当时英国贩卖鸦片的商人其实得不到政府的支持, 当年英国反对战争的意见也很大.
Elliot也是被清朝和英国政府夹在中间, 做人困难. Elliot当初为了解决中国政府困住
英国商人不提供食物直到英国商人把所有鸦片都交出来, 就跟英国商人说损失由政府赔
偿. 英国政府根本不卖他的帐, 说政府不支持smuggling. 其实Elliot自己也是反对鸦

1. 单纯就HO3和HO5来说的话， HO5 Policy更好。原因如下：
1）HO5不是每个房子都qualify的， 一般只提供给比较新的， 价值高的， 保养好的房
子。
2）HO3是named perils base， 就是保单条例里列出来保什么就保什么， 如果没列出
来的就不保。 而HO5 Policy是open perils， 就是只要保单里没有提出不保的都保，
所以保的项目要多。
3）HO5自动包含Guaranteed Replacement Cost Coverage，就是如果房子全毁了会保房
子重建的全值。 HO3如果policy没列就没有。
2. 关于代理不管是IMT，Costco，或者别的代理， 个人感觉没什么大区别，都是agent
而已。
3. 如果您的房价是350K， 应该不需要买这么高的Dwelling Coverage。建议appraisal

代他在此发表这篇回忆孟老师的文章。孟老师以自己的一言一行影响了很多学生，为人师
表，堪称楷模。愿孟老师在天堂安息。
回忆孟老师的两三事
前阵子就在版上看到孟老师身体欠安的帖子，虽然在贴子里大家都没有说是什么病，
但是我心里却有一种不详之感。不敢往坏的地方想，只是在版上关注一些孟老师的消息，
希望他能早日康复。想不到今日却噩耗传来。
孟老师教授我们大一时候《普通生物学》课程的动物部分内容，还带我们这门课动物
实验。那时候刚进大学，初见孟老师的时候，感觉和上大学前所想象的白发苍苍，西装革
履的大学教授形象颇为不附，当时还有点失望，心想这位大学老师也太朴实点了吧。
孟老师确实很朴实，更让我敬佩的是他的尽责和对学生的平和耐心的态度。我们大一
的时候在浦口，孟老师每星期要从鼓楼坐校车到浦口给我们 |

范，谁也防范不了。风水其实是常识，各种科学知识的应用，风水师不应该故弄玄虚，
应摆明其中科学根据才对。风水有科学根据？蠢猪！

这件事说明风水师对自然降水引发泥石流没有准确预见和防范，谁也防范不了。风水其
实是常识，各种科学知识的应用，风水师不应该故弄玄虚，应摆明其中科学根据才对。

一首在海外华人当中引起轰动的英文诗：你们究竟还要不要中国人活？
以下这首英文詩，相傳是出於紐約州立大學水牛城分校榮譽退休
物理學教授 Duo-Liang Lin 的手筆。這位华裔
學者表達的是整個中華民族的百年憤慨 ───过去中国人由于民穷國弱倍受列强
欺凌，如今好不容易经济起飞却
又倍受西方的打压敵視。中國人究竟做了什么？为甚麼无论怎么做都不對？你們西方人
究竟想不让中国人生存？
究竟希望我們怎樣生存？
這首詩近期在海外华網熱傳，原因是它反映了华裔在海外
被白种人种族主义打压的生態，抒發了海外華裔長
期以來遭受的集體壓抑。
该詩原文以英文撰寫，曾经在《華盛頓郵報》刊登，是海外华人回击西
方主流社会雙重標準打压以及西方种族
