CCTV放映了《大国崛起》，无外乎中国文人的传统说词“亲君子，远小人，薄赋税
”，看起来大气，也非常正确，但却是空无一物的废话。当然这些古典词汇换成了今天
时髦的东西，如好制度，市场经济等等。但具体什么是好制度，什么是市场经济；怎么
才算好制度，市场经济；如何判断是否是好制度和市场经济等等，通通不知道。只知道
这些新衣服就是好就是好，那些大国就是穿着这些新衣服崛起的。
既然《大国崛起》已经有人拍摄了，这里就讲一个大国的衰落。这个大国衰落的时
间背景与那些大国崛起相同，也是19世纪下半叶到20世纪初。它曾经占世界GDP的2/3，
通过它的无以伦比的商业力量聚积了世界硬通货的2/3，它就是大清。今天，中国的GDP
和外汇储备节节高升，但远达不到当年大清的高度，甚至永远也到不了那个高度。
大清取得那么辉煌的成就，靠的就是好的制度，民主宪政和市场经济。同时期的西

美洲正好赶上感恩节-哥伦布日放假，我基本上都是在野外山林里度过
一次在montpellier旅馆里做梦，窗外淫雨霏霏，旅馆后面山滑坡了，我被埋在下面，

住在那里时候秋天周末都要进山，当时不会开车，记不得到底去过哪些路了。rooming
house里还有几个喜欢冒险，老开unpaved，经常走到一条死路上去。

秋天去过两次，一次是banff，jasper，一次在kananaskis

从南边到rutland到burlington，然后又横穿montpelier到新罕布什尔

camping, peninsular state park is your best choice. you'd have to reserve
months in advance for july/august but it's still early in the season so
worth a try. or stay in any of the quaint tourist towns north of egg harbor.
many things to do from all kinds of outdoor/water activities to art gallery,
theatre, winery tours... you really have to stay 2 or more nights to enjoy
what it has to offer |

你不知道而已。再说peninsular的开始是因为SF的富人不堪SF的烂天气从城里搬出来的

South (or west) of El Camino Real is better than the other side. Then there
is another line of central express
way, then yet another line of HW 101. Generally speaking, south / west side
is better.
In sunnyvale/santa clara/west san jose, there is another rule of thumb: west
of lawrence express way is better
than the other side.

from oil. Any wind will result in muddy water. For clear water and white

我们是8月底, 9月初去的Alaska, 基本是旅游旺季的尾巴, 9月份就已经是淡季了, 很
多hotel 9月份的rate比8月份要底很多.
强烈推荐 The Great Alaskan Tour Saver 99$, 有很多buy one get one free的
coupon, 特别适合couple 用: 比如我们用的flight tour, glacier tour等等. 还有
一些hotel , buy one night, 2nd night free. Totally worth it.
In summary:
2 days at Kenai Peninsular, 2.5 days at Denali, 1.5 day inside arctic circle

小镇叫peninsular，依山傍水，还有古运河船闸遗迹
午饭break，开车到国家公园转一圈是常事，幸亏不收门票。
cuyahoga不错，
有瀑布，有湿地，有covered bridge，
冬可滑雪，秋有红叶，夏有树荫，春有绿草
虽然菜了点，但是既然大雾山能成国家公园，为啥cuyahoga valley不能呢。
