诸如「沈阳」「张家口」「大连」等地名甚至都不是汉语，而是根据这三个城市分别在
满语、蒙古语和日语中名称的发音，写作Mukden，Kalgan，和Dairen。
很多人都有这样的疑问，为什么北京大学的英文名字不是Beijing University，却叫
Peking University？为什么青岛啤酒也不写成Qingdao Beer而偏偏是Tsingtao Beer？
而为什么有时候四川省的外文不写作Sichuan而是写成Szechuan？
除了Peking，Tsingtao和Szechuan这样较为常见的「非常规」拼法，我们偶尔还能看到
像Tientsin（天津）Soochow（苏州）等在今天中国人眼中看来很「奇怪」的英文拼写
。此外，这些英文拼写的出现似乎也有一个规律：他们都是地名。
实际上，这样的外文拼写叫做「邮政式拼音」（Postal Romanization），是一套曾经
专门用来拼写中文地名的汉字拉丁化体系。

倒是peking到底是不是北平音译，好像没有定论。也有可能是来自别的渊源
北大建校可比北伐早多了
话说好像记得peking是北平的读音？貌似还真有点过时了，虽然说明咱有历史，但是现
在北京的很多地方冠名都用beijing了，包括以前也用peking的，尤其随着中国越来越强
大，beijing在国际上越来越被接受，估计以后改beijing是大势所趋 |

中国首都北京的英文译名，究竟应持续采用约定成俗的「Beijing」，还是改为类似北
京大学英译名称使用的「Peking」University，近来在大陆舆论也出现「正名」争议。
根据《中国青年报》社会调查中心最新的调查显示，有八一％受访民众反对将北京的国
际译名，由现在汉语拼音的「Beijing」，改为「Peking」。
据报导，这项民意调查访问二、二○一人，结果有七六％的人能熟练使用汉语拼音；二
一点二％的人「一般」；二点八％的人感觉自己「忘得差不多了」，或者根本不会使用
汉语拼音。因此，八一％的人反对修改北京使用汉语拼音的译名；赞成的比例仅为一○
点七％；八点三％的人认为「无所谓」。
北京师范大学文学院汉语言文字学研究所副教授孙银新指出，《汉语拼音方案》可以给
汉字注音，帮助人们准确地识读汉字，有助于语文教学和矫正读音，成为推广普通话的
有力工具；汉语拼音方案还是少数民族制定文字的依据和基础；由于采用国际上流行的
拉丁字母，能帮助外国人学习汉语，促进国际文化交流。
一九五八年中国全国人民代表大会正式通过《汉语拼音方案》至今已有五十年。现在中

中国首都Beijing确实是家喻户晓，不用说教授，随便在街上逮个homeless都可能知道
。但如果担心教授没听说过Peking U而改名成Beijing U，沾个首都知名度的光，
Peking U也算混到头了。改不改都没多大意义。再说这不是为难我们的兄弟院校清华么
，他们改什么名好呢？China U? |

路过双瀑(twin falls, ID)吃晚饭，搜索找到了北京（Peking）这个红字招牌的小店。
进门华人小二用英文领座，领导和我对菜单不屑一顾，直接和他讲中文：有没有清淡点
的汤面，小二似乎很久没用中文了，在我们启发下一分钟内找到感觉，旋即奔后堂说去
看看有没有菜心，俄尔又跑回来高兴地说有，在澄清了汤面非炒面之后，下单鸡肉面和
牛肉面，多搁青菜，价钱按炒面记。
十分钟许，貌似老板娘的中年妇女亲自端上两碗热气腾腾的汤面上来，上面堆着青菜心
，汤鲜肉嫩，吃的我俩无暇搭话，两天的“美味”（油炸土豆条，油煎土豆丝，气死味
的煎鸡蛋，油煎意大利肠，牛肉汉堡……）和邪气一扫而空。

制作了这两碗面。味道在舌尖盘旋，体贴在心头荡漾。
本篇绝对事实，若与下篇结构雷同，那肯定是抄袭。

今天去喜相逢吃午饭，吃完出门的时候霍然看到门上贴的结业通知，说Labor Day后喜
相逢就停业了。于是又进门问那台湾的“老板娘”咋回事。“老板娘”说是这个店卖给
了中东人，以后就不会是中餐馆了。
说来在这家店也吃了十来年了。中间有几年，饭菜不怎么样，不过这两年质量又上来了
。好容易说可以再去了，结果要关门了。多少有些伤感啊。 |
