Before CS, I went through Kaplan notes once for 1.5 months. The exception is
pediatrics, I hate this part, the author does not know what he is talking
about, so I skipped pediatric part of the notes. The next 2.5 months were
dedicated to CS preparation (it is worthy, otherwise I will not be able to
pass CS, CS is like a nightmare to old CMG like me). After CS, did UW

with 10 years hands-on experience in pediatrics including 5 years at PICU.
Currently live in US with a green card. My USMLE scores are step1/step2=75/
82. I have about 1 year volunteer experience at local free clinic doing
triage and screening. Now I am preparing on 2010 year residency match in
Pediatrics, FM and IM.
With the poor USMLE scores and long graduation years, I am not too confident

问我，做哪科，好替我安排。
本人对外科，病理毫无兴趣。主要是在Family Iedicine/IM 和 Pediatrics 间选。
看过精华区，扔不sure。也不知， Pediatrics 需几年 residency？ 若选Family
Medicine，是否应做 Internal medicine 的OB。(they seem to have only IM dept.)
内科里也有神经和心内可选。
另外，Resume 写法，应注意什么？就写流水账就行吗？In case it is useful for
later function.

pediatric neurology 是先完成儿科，然后fellowship 选择pediatric neurology再完

2,有人说Kaplan notes- Pediatrics不好， 应该用Blueprints Pediatrics.如果其他
科目用K－notes， 儿科用blueprints， 会不会影响复习的完整性?
3,有人提议用复习Step 3 的Kaplan Medical USMLE Master the Boards 作为提纲来复
习step 2， 这样可行吗？
4,什么时候开始做UW会提高效率?复习notes的时候是否就可以开始做题了？

我还是premed, 对match很不了解，就是讲讲自己的想法
(1)你一定要做PD吗？或者一定要去某个specific的program吗？像楼上各位讲的一样，
是不是看看更FMG friendly的program呢？同时也看看哪些programs更喜欢收有强的
research背景的。我在想，你要用自己的长处去和刚刚毕业的小朋友们去竞争。
另外，比如你以后，如果想做pediatric oncologist或者prediatric neurologist的话
（只是打个比方），是不是都要先做residence in general pediatrics呢？还是有其
他的途径？
(2) 和PD谈或者interview的时候，是不是可以考虑一下这个问题
“我泡泡龙到了你们这个program, 可以为你们这个program 带来什么新东东，带来什
么新鲜血液”？
这个是我最近考虑怎么写medical school的essays, 以及平时看着系里面招faculty，

For my test, I used 11 months to prepare it. ( full time job, part time for
CK).
Final score 250+
NBME form 4 510 (3 months before.)
NBME form 1 600 (1 week before)
The true test is a little easier than NBME.
I strongly recommend doing NBME earlier (at least 2 months before, for part
time preparing CK) and online (at least twice on line). They will report
which part you are weak. After doing the NBME form 4, OBGYN is my weak part.

1 package:
(1) RL: 3封，ICU, pediatric OB信，国内的信（9年工作）。可以有国内的信，但是不要都是国内的。上传也可以寄过去，8月1号前寄到，9/1就可以到file里面。
(2) PS: 商业性不好，自己写好。可以表达自己的感情和故事，写完后要老外润色，纠正语法，控制800字左右。
(3)照片：要修饰一下，专业的照的好，不要自己照。用专业照80多块，好的。
(4)早submit
(5) 多选program，在经济允许的情况下。不用管他的毕业年限，有的写了3-5年，其实收了毕业10多年的。有的写的宽松，或许录取实际很严。
(6) 回复要快。马上回。有的过了4个小时，就已经没有面试了，变成了waiting list.
(7) 面试，把不喜欢的靠前，比如9月，喜欢的放10-11月。那的少就更要慎重，比如12月初。
(8) 老外注重attitude,说话语气，confident。不太注重说话内容。
要有passion, 热情，阳光，开朗，自信，真诚。

Chinese Boston Med is going to host Mock Interview for residency match on 10
/19/2013.
In each session, Mock Interview for the interested candidates will follow
the description of the specialty (except pathology).

说明一下，这个同事最后进的是pediatric path的rad spot.我们program每年招6-7个
也只有一个名额给ped。因为大多数人不想一上来就定型ped path，所以有的年份会招
不满。但是住院医出来后不一定非得做pediatric radiologist. 今年有个ped path的
senior 已经拿到好几个西岸mammo的fellow IV.
今年rad申请的人貌似又开始多了，可能比前两年更竞争些。我们医院带教医学院的学
生今年至少有6-7个申rad的。如果非常想进rad不妨ped path也申请，增加机会。 |

发帖数: 15 | 50 去年我有面过metropolitan的Pediatric program. 是间Community hospital, 不知道
你是面的那一科?pediatric program director人挺合善的, 没有问刁难的问题, 但是
program chairman是个非常严肃的印度老奶奶, 我最後没有match上但是对program整体
印象还是挺好 |
