So there is this small 5k in my neighborhood (two blocks away from where I
live), just 140 runners. I passed this little rascal at 4.5km, but he
forged ahead at last 100m and passed me. OK so he does have good genes
since both his parents are two-time Olympians.
The boy's father finished 4th in the same race. Top 3 are Elites from Japan

一条腿是学习基础知识，这个我们就是用的普通数学教材。高中用的是Prentice Hall
那个系列。选教材前，我去一个数理磁校网站看了下他们用什么教材，发现他们用的就
是一般高中教材。我觉得美国这边教材大多不错，基础概念解释得生动而清楚。造成好
校坏校差距的主要是老师和学生。小学高年级和初中我们没用教材，用的是ipad上的
iTooch5-8年级分年级数学App。之所以选择iTooch是因为它(1) 分知识点做练习评估 -
适合我来检查孩子哪个概念不清，(2) 做得全对有小星星小动画 - 儿子小吃这套有兴
趣做，(3) 做错有提示 - 省得我出马教，(4) 还便宜 - 这个其实是关键原因 ...同类
型的老美圈子的教育网站，比如IXL和Mathletics啥的，看上去都还可以。
竞赛培训我们买的教材很多，但很多是为以后的学习买的，不少教材我们做都没开始做

咱们版找过好多次，似乎一直没找到好的读本。大家最熟的是德国的施瓦布（Schwab）
写的《希腊神话故事》，但不是儿童读本。昨天吃晚饭的时候，三年级的女儿说起
Medusa本来很漂亮，但她在Athena的神庙里向Poseidon祈祷，得罪了Athena，Athena把
她变成丑八怪。我不知道这个，不过记得Medusa还有个名儿叫Gorgon。女儿立刻说是
the Gorgons，她们是三姐妹，都是头发长蛇的丑八怪。我跟儿子解释说，任何人一看
Medusa就会变成石头。女儿又纠正说是看她的眼睛才会变石头，看身体其他部分没事。
我好高兴，她知道得比我还多！第一次能和女儿平手谈文学！问她从哪里看来的，她和
弟弟同时说Percy Jackson！

YESTERDAY'S announcement that Michael Phelps was making a competitive return
next week to the Arena Grand Prix in Mesa, Ariz., has pushed ticket sales
for the meet to nearly sold-out capacity, spurring swimming fans to scramble
for any seat they can get to watch The Greatest Olympian of All Time in his
first race in 20 months.
The website for ticket sales mentions that no tickets are available for any

olympian级别的：女子0.31到0.43秒，男子0.28到0.56秒。不太清楚水下摄像机怎么放
的，可能误差很大。但是女子比男子短一点是肯定的。为什么呢？
我：0.82秒。游累了以后0.77秒。我一直认为累了之后手脚脱节，腿想省点力气，没想
到弯却小了。
我儿子：0.67秒
G大叔：0.31秒。您给的G的水下录像是平行的，所以这个数很准。很可能他比很多男子
olympian都短。
我简单地用角度做判断条件，没考虑蹬水的时候角度也肯定比较大但是速度不慢之类的
因素。因此我理解不能说这段时间内全都是drag？我是不是应该再把这段时间分两段，
蹬之前大角度和蹬之后大角度？
backflip翻转速度那个作业真没找着特别清楚的。还有，看见手的看不见脚，全看见的
找不到，所以也没办法准确定位最后一下的开始时间。

写的《希腊神话故事》，但不是儿童读本。昨天吃晚饭的时候，三年级的女儿说起
Medusa本来很漂亮，但她在Athena的神庙里向Poseidon祈祷，得罪了Athena，Athena把
她变成丑八怪。我不知道这个，不过记得Medusa还有个名儿叫Gorgon。女儿立刻说是
the Gorgons，她们是三姐妹，都是头发长蛇的丑八怪。我跟儿子解释说，任何人一看
Medusa就会变成石头。女儿又纠正说是看她的眼睛才会变石头，看身体其他部分没事。
我好高兴，她知道得比我还多！第一次能和女儿平手谈文学！问她从哪里看来的，她和
弟弟同时说Percy Jackson！
最近老听他们说Percy Jackson，还吵着要看DVD，一看就不停。我以为是像Dora、
Umizoomi那样的儿童电视节目。女儿连连说不是，一边递给我看她正在看的一本厚厚的
《The Sea of Monsters》，是Percy Jackson & the Olympians这套五本系列小说中的

off in Texas. I hated these Olympians.
