孩子被social workers从家里带走，放到foster family。带走的原
因常常是很小的，比如neglect - 节目里说：neglect is subjective。
判断是否neglect就全由那些social workers定了。印第安孩子被
带走的孩子比例是其他孩子的三倍。而且，法律要求安置孩子首先
考虑亲戚，然后是本tribe的族人，然而事实是这些孩子们一般都被
送到了白人家庭，再也看不到自己熟悉的亲人。如果孩子被收养，每
个孩子州政府能够从联邦政府那里拿到1万多刀。该州很穷，就靠这个
给州政府赚钱了。采访的几个当年被带走的，描述说天天盼着被接回去，

Facts on Foster Care in America

Each week, nearly 60,000 children in the United States are reported as
abused or neglected, with nearly 900,000 confirmed abuse victims in 2004.
About 520,000 of those children end up in foster care each year -- double
the number 25 years ago. Approximately 800,000 children every year come in
contact with the foster care system.

care.
During FY 2016, 273,539 children entered foster care.
During FY 2016, 250,248 children exited foster care.
The number of children in foster care on September 30, 2016, (437,465)
remains lower than those in care on the same day in 2006 (510,000). However,
FY 2016 saw an increase in these numbers as compared to FY 2015 (427,444).
Approximately 5 children die every day because of child abuse.

unnecessary tensions within nations. Most men have an allegiance to some
group beyond their family-- a tribe, region, nation, ethnic, race,
linguistic, or religious group.
The multicultural state removes national identity as a basis of commonality
