常受到各个地方教会的邀请，四处布道，有时要开一个多小时的车跑到乡下），所以本
人的“入教介绍人”韩国籍牧师就带着笔者开始了物色一个合适教会之家的过程。其实
本系统教会在此地随处可见（当然都是清一色老美教会），每隔几条街就能碰上一个，
找一家就近的不就成了吗？但韩国牧师似乎不这么看，而是看了一家又一家，有时明明
街边有一家，他却连车都不停，好像不屑一顾似的。当笔者问其缘由时，他只是说，那
家他了解，“too legalistic”(太律法主义）。笔者在国内文革末期“批儒尊法”时
就知道对“法家“的翻译就是Legalism，因此马上就联想起”严刑峻法”。来美后，也
知道美国人做什么事情都要先考虑法律后果，然后就是签一大叠文件，很多其实都是繁
文缛节，所以看都不看，签了就是。而这种鸡蛋里找骨头的心态，也被称为legalistic
。只是这跟教会有什么关系？虽然不太明白，但是一和“严刑峻法”和“繁文缛节”联

我现在刚刚开国维新成功。 过程曲折：
1。 解散冗兵，所有绿营兵全部遣散，以平衡预算。同时大名府曹州发现金矿，每天
400补贴国库，财政顿时宽松。
2。 国家重点提高官僚效率。
3。 把对神职人员的投资提高到100%， 沿着开国的要求一项一项研究科技。最开始非
常缓慢，随着识字率提高逐渐加快。
4。 征服安南，西藏，割占朝鲜大同江以北一提高威望。与世界排名前三的强国保持
100以上的外交关系。与葡萄牙打了三次没有结果的战争，保持了领土完整。
5。 开国过程中采取亲西方政策，避免给英法美俄任何战争借口。任何涉外争端都以亲
西方立场裁决，欢迎西方人居留， 欢迎列强的军事刺探任务，对列强与国内不满势力
（除了安南，西藏）的联系视若不见。
6。 1840到1860是国内人民起义高潮，恰恰与太平天国相对应。最坏时候整个江南，西
北都失去控制，垂头丧气，几乎放弃。咸丰就是这个时候气死的吧。最后勉强支撑下来
，同时八旗陆军也相当精锐了。
终于1867年开国成功，触发天命所归事件，全国人心大快militancy回落到0.5以下。建
