Best areas are Piedmont, Rockridge, Grand Lake and the Hills
Downtown Oakland is a mix-bag. Generally the Jack London Square
area and north and east of Lake Merrit are fine. Lake Merrit is
beautiful, BTW. The views from those highrise condos by the lake
are one of the bestin Bay area. In south bay you seldom get any
water view. |

正常情况下，从JFK 回康州，要过白石桥，收６，７块？反正一直在涨，出了纽约还要
交一块多。
说不知道EZPass也不靠铺，旁边道那么多车等着排队，看不见啊，除非路上都没人。
而且，原贴说了交了２块钱的。
但是，我印象中是可以不交钱的，如果你不介意绕路的话。走DOWNTOWN 回去曼哈顿，
然后LOCAL走到UPTOWN， 在哥大医学院附近上桥，在最后一个出口出来，走SAW MILL，
CROSS COUNTY什么的，可以到Purchase， 然后走MERRIT 进康州，我以前走过，应该
现在也没收费。如果你不嫌麻烦，一分钱不用。

多。左手边是一个很大的网球场和高尔夫球场(所以你可以想像那是条大路)。那条路限
速30，平时大家至少是40甚至50的开。没有任何行人通行的标志。我因为昨天下午玩了
卡丁车，知道自己如果不控
制下自己，肯定是按赛道上的感觉开，昨晚才开的慢。
现在还很后怕。如果真撞上，孩子的妈妈一定不是那种反应。。。 |

发帖数: 715 | 23 美国的房子默认就是unfurnished的，也就是不带任何家具的。有少数房东可能因为工
作地点调动的关系，想把房子快速出租出去，这时候才可能是带家具的。
另外，如果要买家具的话，我有两个建议：
（1）不要去宜家，因为性价比太低。就算去越南家具店，也比宜家强多了。
（2）刚来尽可能少买家具，把家具数目限定在最基本需要就可以了。因为事后你过了
一两年对湾区更熟以后，肯定会对当初买家具不满意。这时候留着觉得恶心自己，处理
掉却麻烦而且也舍不得。

city (except for those who work in the city). it's actually not a whole lot
more expensive than taking the train.
depending on which part of the town you are going, there're some short cuts
which may help you to avoid traffic jam even during the rush hour. i usually

Apartment'? It's a nice place just a little expensive.
Otherwise, you can get an agent. In this area, the landlord pays commission
and tenant pays nothing. This is how I found my last rental place. Hope this

发帖数: 98 | 35 Merritt 7 附近，Merritt Exit 40 旁边有一个大型apartment, 叫 Merrit River,属
于luxury apartment rental, 可以自己GOOGLE看看,那块的区还可以，比较安全，而且
旁边有很多shopping centers 和 Medical center，而且交通方便，就是不知道火车的
噪音怎末样。
另外，最好不要去 Avalon Norwalk,网上的REVIEW 一塌糊妒，而且背靠火车轨道，噪
音很大，所在的区也很差。
整体来讲，Norwalk 地区现在的治安还可以，但是要尽量避免的两个区是South
Norwalk地区(N年以前那里是红灯和毒品区）和 the connector area (I-95和Route 7
的接口处)。
越往北越好，特别是在 Route 123(也就是 New Canaan Ave.) 以北的地区为佳。最好
的区是Silvermine和Cranbury，但是这两个区已single Family House 居多，
apartment 和Townhouse很少。

山看红叶。group里好几个康州同胞说要去；版上有兴趣的朋友也可以参加。Sleeping
Giant有很多trails，标记明显，自己走也很容易。另外Sleeping Giant志愿组织也有
爬山活动，这周日是introductory hike，三小时左右；28号是看红叶的hike；11月18
