其实我平时运动挺多的，一周打两三次球，平时偶尔有低血糖的感觉。
而那次是活动摄像，起立蹲下比较多，而且还上台发言，比较兴奋了之后有小段lapse
of consciousness。之后几秒钟后就没事了，喝了些可乐等，当天也就没事了。
之后一周都没有症状，但是我想着慎重起见，既然也有保险就索性去校医院检查一下。
其实医生本来还安排了脑部CT，她可能比较慎重。而在校医院的lab检查，各个参数都
是没问题的。
同时已经过去四五个月了，也没有发生问题。 |

脑部CT是校医order的还是你去神经科后的specialist order的？校医refer你去神经科
，是Neurologist么？神经科去看了么？你的脑CT做了么？脑CT的cost是多少？你的保
险付多少，你自己out of pocket付多少？
如果你看了Specialist，也作了Brain CT，也一切正常的话，让这个Specialist开一个
证明，你可以开车。你就可以拿着这个证明去DMV要回驾照了。前提是Specialist的检
查也一切正常。你以后多注意吧，每半年去做个Brain MRI,如果保险允许的话。小命比
较重要。

来400多了，这都得自掏腰包。要是加入4个SOCIETY，每年会费就是700多了，
可是在和一个faculty talk时，他们问我打算在society里担任什么leader role，好像
他们还挺看重这些的。
请问各位，这些society在career发展中能有多大的意义？另外就是可以用grant或者

1. 总体来说保险公司的任务是两个： 一是赚钱，就是赚的term ins 的钱，以为pay
out rate只有 1%. 二就是帮你管钱，拿去投资各种金融产品，这样如果赚钱的话大家
一起赚，于此同时投保人还得到一定的COVERGAE ，这是WHOLE LIFE，一般来说是
GAURANTEED WHOLE LIFE（不要与vul混淆了）
2. 75%的定期保险会在半路上lapse， 所以很多小的保险公司最爱TERM， FREE MONEY.

3. 一般大公司也喜欢term， 因为有机会给你convert. 这也就是一石二鸟吧。会先叫
你买term,后来再推销给你whole life， 因为每个定期险都有这个免费的rider.
关于convertibility, 一般5年的term折合绿是37%，10年的是11%， 20年的只有8%。

共知，但在大家的帖子里我看到得比较少，所以就连带科普一下吧。另外不同投资方案
可能很难做到投资的schedule都一样，这时候用未来某时刻的cash value来比较就变成
不可能。比如说，有一笔钱，是用来买投资房咧还是放在股市？投资房有cash flow，
那么未来的cash value跟放股市就不可比了。在我所讨论的这三种方案中，term+VFINX
跟IUL或者term+VFINX跟WL的schedule可以做到一样，但WL跟IUL就很难做到一样。用
ROR才能更清楚更公平的把三种方案放在一起进行比较。另外我说我不是Excel guy，不
是想说我自己不会算，这点你可能误会了。
1. 在我没有跑我的程序之前，没有实实在在的数据支持，我没法直接做你这个泛化到

能给出确切答复，想看这里有没有人了解。
按照保险公司提供的购买方案，在默认7.1%收益率的情况下，选择20年按月付款的方式
，一个月付$210，付满20年就可以cover终生，到死可以拿回$50万。
这里有几个问题：
1、买时是按照7.1%收益率，但如果买了以后，如果有的年份实际收益率低于7.1%，而
有的年份高于7.1%，是不是每月的premium都会随之变动？极端一点，如果20年内实际
收益率一直低于7.1%，该怎么算？是每月多交？还是20年以后再计算差值补交？如果是
20年以后补差值，那是已经5、60岁了，计算的rate是不是要按照5、60岁来计算，那样
的话将会非常昂贵。
2、按照7.1%的收益率，一切都顺利，买完20年，可以不用买了。但根据保险公司计算
的方式，实际是20年以后你的本金加增长的资金按照7.1%的收益率，已经足够可以
cover买保险的premium，所以你不用再交钱了。但如果20年以后，收益率大幅下降，我

You got into a complex product that you don't understand. VUL is in general
not a good idea, and with your level of payment it is almost certainly a bad
idea. Get out when the sunk cost is still relatively low.
Don't get into Whole Life, Variable Life, anything you don't understand.
Just buy a boring cheap term life policy, and invest the rest. |

简单说，EE PhD，毕业后做过几年跟wireless有关的东东，大公司、小公司全职，也做
过contractor。但因为最近几年没工作，现在决定重新上班，这个lapse给我找工造成
很大障碍。我的心态已经摆正，公司不论大小，我也不求高工资，只要有项目做，有正
常员工的福利就好。

disagree with you professionals!
In my example above, 15-year loan refinance five times, you elongate the
loan term by 5 years! A 15-year fixed became a 20-year fixed. The worthwhile
refinance is (1) zero-cost, (2) lower interest rate, and (3) refinance to a
shorter loan term (minus the number of years lapsed since your last
financing).

charge is not what you have to pay to them, but the maximum you will lose given
you have such amount of cash value in your account. It'll decrease after 5
years and vanish after 15 years.
I am glad that you finally realized it's a mistake. If you only have $4000 and
