trails (one is a 0.6mi loop, the other 5mi loop) at which I usually run,
when I see them I usually run the opposite direction so they won't pass me
again and again.
However, there was once I ran faster than some elite Japanese women if you
look at the average speed, that's because we were all running intervals, but
the difference was the Japanese women stopped between intervals while I
jogged between intervals. |

1. They conducted a research on 14-16 yr old kids in a Kenyan school. These
are averaging kids, completely untrained athletically (except that they run
between school and home daily). Their average VO2max is the mid 70s.

have been set. 俺以前看过一个master runner排名表， 不少人5K就是在
这里跑的， 就跑去看了看。
这个比赛很有意思， 7点钟， 40岁以上的masters先跑， 然后2个多小时后，
30-39岁的跑， 然后11：30am, 20-29岁的跑， 最后12点多， elite开始跑。
俺去晚了， 只看到20-29岁的和最后的elite, 感觉还蛮震撼的， elite感觉
就像一阵风一样飘过去了， 看完他们的video， 再看自己上次半马冲刺的
video, 感觉就像在走路 ：） 还有很多好小的小孩子也在20-29岁组一起跑，
跑得都还蛮快的。

It seems that talent/gene really matters. There's a stats said that the the
kenyan people's running ability is 1.5 standard deviation ahead of
the european. To become an elite runner, a european needs 5.3SD (1 per
20million), while a kenyan needs only 3.8SD (80 per million).

have to win and still can earn quite some money. The Kenyans and Ethiopians
have to win to earn money. And there is always this next new Kenyan or
Ethiopian coming to win the day, so when it is their chance to win, they
will push really hard for it.

才发现我第一次跑马拉松体重只有 144 磅， 其实在跑马拉松前，我骑车很多的时候
貌似有一次骑车回家体重只有 137磅，这个是我多少年以来见过的最低点。
第二次，也就是去年初跑马拉松，我体重已经 152磅左右了，成绩当然下降了。
今年，幸亏我没报任何比赛，体重 158磅！ 打酱油都困难。
体重本身也许对比赛影响没有想象的那么大，但是体重却体现了你的fitness,你的
训练，你对饮食的控制。。。 所以，体重就是王道啊
我决定，在体重下降到 140 磅之前，不参加任何比赛！

老美有个可笑的program，专门针对kenyan小孩，选一批进口到美国，养大直到上大学
。借口是看随机选，看看最后出跑步人才的可能多大。结果人到了美国，都不练跑步，

after gunmen stormed an upscale mall in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, says
Kenya’s Red Cross.
Witnesses said the attackers ordered all Muslims to leave the premises, as
