发帖数: 5637 | 39 误区1：作为少数族裔，我们亚裔应该支持“族裔优先”的招生政策 （race-based admission policy)
回答：在高校入学上，我们亚裔从来就是不受欢迎的少数族裔（over-represented minority）。资料显示，亚裔在美国要比其他族裔成绩优秀许多才能上同样的学校。要上同样的名校，亚裔SAT要考1550分，白人1410分，西裔1280分，而非裔只需要1100分*（英文和数学满分是1600）。亚裔入学这么高的门槛使得许多亚裔的大学申请者非常害怕，有些干脆拒绝列出他们是亚裔—其实学校一看名字就能知道哪些孩子是亚裔。。。所以这个race-based admissions policy对我们亚裔是非常不利的。
加州的公立高校自从1996年取消了‘族裔优先’的招生政策后，亚裔学生在加州大学的比例马上增大一倍。新政策迫使加州中小学加大了对所有学生学习管理的力度，打消任何人张口等着吃‘族裔优先’政策白饭的念头。激烈的竞争使得各族裔学生的学习干劲和知识水平大幅提高。到2002年， 西裔和非裔的人数就恢复到1996年前的历史最高点，到2007年又增加了40%。公平的竞争使得人... 阅读全帖 |

发帖数: 5637 | 40 我对1996的那个法案的理解是，没有摒弃AA，但是取消racial preference。因为没有
racial preference，所以UCSD可以有40%的亚裔。如果你不同意可以再讨论。
我不知道您有没有看过这篇文章的误区4.5.6.7，我觉得有些道理的。
另外当然有些人钻政策的空子。我相信还是有很多真正贫困的亚裔是需要像您这样有爱
心，有公义的人去关心的。我等会儿去给你找个比例来。

首先，祝贺大家的努力，华人的大签名活动以及各种抗议已经得到主流的注意，今天的
纽约时报发表文章专门说“梁警官事件华人社区分离的看法”，貌似很客观地报道了一
下华人的主流意见，而且允许评论。
