发帖数: 385 | 3 纠结在前五点技术细节好坏的朋友们何必呢？Jobs说得很清楚：Sixth, the most
important reason。Jobs是绝对不会允许letting a third party layer of software
come between the platform and the developer的。如果不是最后第六个原因，前边
五个原因也无关紧要了，电池啥的都次要。
Jobs一点也没想立牌坊，就是挑明了说俺觉得俺苹果的平台是最好的，就是不允许你们
第三方的平台来插一脚。
人家Jobs好不容易立了山头，那能像王伦似的给别人抢了位置？让第三方平台得了势，
cross-platform的程序在google, apple, nokia上都能转，那苹果这牌子不就消失了？
Android为啥打Flash牌？因为它没人家苹果那么成功，一没资本跟Flash叫板，二它那
小小的app market也没啥利益需要保护。
所以人家Jobs就是挑明了说俺就是要卖Apple-only的iPhone, iPad，只要消费者买账，
俺就一条道跑到黑了。 |

标 题: 买了本national enquirer研究了一下Jobs的狗仔照

照片应该是真的。那辆被人当作是作假证据的破车大概是别人从医院给他ride回家。他老婆送他吃早饭然后去stanford medical center开的车从尾灯形状看似乎是辆Audi。还有就是他的turtleneck的确是收在裤子里面的，外面套了个黑灰色的外套。
不过有一张Jobs的背影看上去特瘦的照片明显是PS过的。照片里有一个残趴sign，上面画的轮椅的轮子都成椭圆形了。肯定是把照片给挤扁了，好让Jobs看上去比实际瘦。
看其他的照片，Jobs并没有比上次露面显得更瘦，或是掉很多头发。人也是自己走，还跟老婆在外面吃饭，还去公司上班，今天还跟奥主席吃饭。Ruth Bader Ginsburg也是两年前胰腺癌手术，还是更烈性的那种，还是第二次得癌症，看上去比Jobs还瘦很多，现在也还在上班呢。

我的理解是interactive job是给你run GUI程序，或者test一些比较费资源的code的
她倒好，居然提交了快60个这样的job，就算是用虚拟窗口，这tmd搞一遍也要死人了吧
唯一能想到的好处，就是她可以霸占这几百个节点（接近最大允许的core数目了）2个
星期（最大walltime），即使什么也没干
我在考虑要不要更我们总是很愤怒的管理员举报她滥用资源。主要是没什么证据证明她
这些job都是闲置的，也许admin可以看到。
上次我举报一个人在登录节点跑了一百多个python进程，后来才发现是一起吃饭的过来
访问游玩的中国大妈，有点尴尬。。。 |

就是想帮助正在读书和找工作的中国同学，给他们点信心，写这个帖子也是。找工作现
在是难，但是积极的准备，不管自己找不找得到满意的工作，这种准备的过程也可以让
人成熟长大的过程。
我的本意不是强调job fair如何重要或者是job fair里的staff能
起到什么作用，我是想说在找工的过程中如何present自己，如果present不好自己，即
便是Interview被选中，Personal /communication skill不够，面试的成功几率也不大
，即便有一个Interviewer喜欢，也不一定每个Interviewer都喜欢。job fair staff/
job fair当然不起决定作用，不过the way you present yourself， the way you
make people feel what kind of person you are是一种很重要的skill。中国人干活

I do not know any fresh chinese ph.d. got offer from descent business school
(top 30). Instead, I know a finance Wharton cannot find job (or he does not go
to mean school), a economics Chicago accept a job from a Australia school( he
wants to transfer to finance area),a minnesota finance cannot find job for two
years.
I know the job market for finance in 1990-1992 is tough but later it is better

position, Cawley's paper did mention that only about 2% job seeker couldn't
find a job, but those jobs could be industry jobs, visiting positions,
postdocs, or whatever jobs in canada, HK or other countries, which were not
under consideration in my article before.
Cawley's paper did also mention that two third of them found tenure-track
positions, 但是其中部分工作是在美国以外的,假设美国以外的position 占其中1/3, 那

今年在job mkt上，我是读finance的，学校是一般的公立大学。
10月份fma面试，大概又10来所中国学校来，大部分都是南方的，因为我想回国，我都
投了。

其实写这个还是挺多concern的，有些信息不知道该不该写，怕写出来不合适。如果版

It reads in a small input file containing parameter values. Then it reads in
a big transactions file. and then dynamically slice and dice data, and
compute all sorts of statistics and ratios.
I currently run this R job in an interactive R session by using -
> source('myJob.R', verbose=T,echo=T)
It works fine but I would really like to run it as a Linux batch job.
Have anybody had such experience of running R batch job on Unix/Linux ?

千年前曹操去世，很多人踊跃跳出来对他评论一番。所以三国演义有句诗说道："书生
轻议冢中人，冢中笑尔书生气。"曹孟德这么NB的人怎么是你们小人物能够盖棺论定的？
继承前辈，我这个小人物在Jobs去世的时候，也要评论一番。
Jobs在电脑，IT方面，确实已经做到极至了。个人电脑，人机界面，乃至iphone，都是
承前启后开创新局面的大牛。
但我对他只有七分佩服。
一分不佩服，是苹果并没有多少从零开始研发而无人可比的技术，现在主要靠手上现金
极多，不断并购小公司而获得科技。而他的竞争者象台湾HTC,水平并不差多少。苹果没
有达到全世界舍我其谁的地步。
二分不佩服，是苹果的产品多少是个玩具，而有些更牛的人想做的不止是玩具。

creating a circuit board for the game Breakout. According to Atari founder
Nolan Bushnell, Atari had offered $100 for each chip that was eliminated in

Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them
looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect
in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life,
karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all
the difference in my life.
回想起自己第一次用apple产品，是80年代，apple II。90年代的某一天，看PC
Magazine杂志，里面有NeXT的广告，以及写jobs如何被赶出苹果公司的经历。30岁本来
是而立之年，梦想却遭遇重大挫折，而后又却能坚持到底，东山再起，终于迎来胜利。
这一点的确不容易。
