，但是我本人算是insight global的员工，他们会给我发工资，我只是在AT＆T上班。
本来我没特别认真对待，但是今天就一个电话面试之后，AT＆T决定给我这个职位，
insight global要我明天过去做剩下的paper work，然后就可以背景调查什么的，不过
我找工作也找了一段时间了，没有这么简单就给offer的，所以想问问各位，这件事情
是否靠谱，另外，明天在签contract的时候需要注意什么呢

计的，就是跟以前db的analyst很像，玩数据然后看能不能找到有商业价值的insight，
skill stack不怎么要求hadoop/mapreduce，因为主流nosql基本都有类sql的接口支持
，interactive analysis比如Dremel、Impala也基本在往sql靠；另一种是build big-
data based商业应用，主要就是广告业务有关的，skill set对mapreduce、system
design、ML algorithms要求比较高。前者收入不如主流sde，人数需求也不少，后者收
入超过主流sde，但是机会没有主流sde多。
知乎有个问题，"为什么行业中人常常不看好本行业?"，虽然讨论不多，但是可见一斑
。quora应该也有类似讨论吧。你是在bioinformatics浸淫久了，知道行业的难点所在
——不难的已经被你克服、吸收了——所以觉得难有大的起色。其实data scientist也

本想等我弄完I-485后再来折腾这些东西的。但这两天收到好多来自申友的、要求给材料的短信，也能体会到大家与我当时一样的心情。所以，就先把letter templates整理下下，并更新在这个贴子后面了。有留下email地址的申友，我已把letter templates发到你的信箱里，请查收。至于还未留email地址，就请不要再给我留email地址了，直接在本贴后面拷就是了。（当然，如果是想给俺包子的话，俺是会张大口袋接的 ---- 俺也想ZAN点儿，等GC到手后，发几个给曾经帮助过我的前辈们，：）

，petition letter完全照版上的一个大牛抄的，就是连续发了好多个图片文件的那个
，不记得id了，反正非常感谢！所以请不要找我要petition letter了，自己考古吧。
版上很少有人claim 媒体报道，我claim了，也通过了。其实真正的报道没几个，
转来转去就显得多了，而且标题不一样看起来像很多。主要就是列表，媒体的名字，介
绍（多少万读者），国家什么的，这样看起来就很打眼。有几个采访邀请的email，也
做了张表格，这样显得明确，别人是对你感兴趣。有两个视频的采访，其实是很小的拿
不出手的，但把截屏的大头放上，图说叫“关于我的某某采访”，到底是哪采访的没好
意思提。
感谢的话就不多说了，一穷二懒就不发包子了，整点实际的，发一下我的
response吧。大家准备140的时候也可以参考，避免被RFE。千万不要犯的愚蠢错误：1
）忘记付上offer letter 和研究计划；2）独立推荐人忘记强调他们的独立身分。如果

一般一把手枪在500刀左右，好点的800-900刀，加各种Accessories，1000刀应该可以了。买枪前最好去受训一下，看看什么枪合适自己，学习持枪安全知识，然后练习。
先上一个Basic Handgun的课，一般75-100刀左右，Insight/West Coast Armory和Wades Gunshop都有Offer。
然后练习。我喜欢有Coach指导一下。问了一下Insight, 冬天没有Women's Shooting League,不过有不分性别的Co-Ed Shooting League I.一般要去个８次，每次１５刀。这个不贵，自己租一个枪道也要１０刀。加上子弹，租枪等，大概每次费用会在３０－４０刀左右。

不知道西方文化里有没有相对应的划分方法，一种直击重点不拘小节，一种稳扎稳打条
分缕析。现如今做计算的门槛降的很低，只要有个还不错的计算机，买个现成软件一装
就能武装起一个实验室。大量产生数据的同时，一些重要的insight却被轻易的忽视了
，不能不说是一种悲哀啊，所以才有计算化学家站出来大声疾呼，Give me insight,

时间过得好快啊，早上起床已经能听到鸟的叫声了，树上也开始有了新芽。居然冬天就
要过去了，春天就要来临了，有种按捺不住地期待+憧憬+微微复活般的感觉。。。。。
。。（这个是不是对寒冷的嗔心以及对温暖的贪心？？？？？）
从去年12月份到现在，心态一直无法从容平和，换言之，总是患得患失/有起伏，而且
“伏”的多。一方面不断告诉自己没什么大不了的，可是另一方面就是放不下。比如，
年初经历了若干面试，哇，真是太不淡定了，心态一直纠着，患得患失，拿了A家的，
又想争取B家的，吃着碗里的看着锅里的，总之相当不淡定。理智上知道，其实真的没
有那么大不了的，可是，心里就是放不下。这个就是红尘煎滚炒心肝么？
平时没事的时候，以为自己很淡定，可是遇到实际情况，还是克制不住地不淡定。搞不
清楚为什么会这样子。

I'd like to ask a few more questions:
1. "The experience of Nirvana is an irreversible event and you are changed
forever."
So who can be said to have achieved that? Is that only after dying or can it
happen when they are also alive?
2. "Unshakable faith in the Four Noble Truth will arise as a result of
personal insight experience-when there is no cause of suffering(ignorance is
expelled by direct insight), suffering ceases."

五月中，寒熱相宜，Sujiva禪師將從歐洲飛來，蒞臨灣區指導觀禪。
觀禪是悉達多‧喬達摩（Siddhartha Gotama）所傳授，千百年來，經由佛弟子輾
轉相傳。這是一個修心過程，培育、集中、磨銳正念，成為具穿透性而純淨的智慧。通
常止禪也用做這種修行的助緣，止禪是以概念為定的所緣，為觀禪構築一穩定而清淨的
基礎。相對而論，觀禪的所緣是名／色的過程，此過程是可以直接觀察並體驗的自然現
象流動，體現三共相，也就是無常、苦、無我。
Sujiva 禪師 簡介
慈濟瓦禪師（Bhante Sujiva）為馬來西亞華裔，不但指導禪修，同時兼為作家和詩人
。1975年獲頒馬來西亞大學農業科學系優異學士學位，旋即在南傳上座部出家，獻身於
四念處智慧禪的教授。早年在修習過程裡，曾受教於中、馬、泰、緬多位止禪、觀禪的
師父，包括知名的緬甸班迪達大師（Sayadaw U Pandita）。
禪師自 1982年起駐錫馬來西亞哥打丁宜（Kota Tinggi） 山林中，在鄰近新加坡邊界

how robust the in vitro system could be...if it is very robust and highly
representative, and have the potentials to offer novel insights, then it is
very much valuable, otherwise it is hard to say...Taking cancer field as an
example, tons of the in vitro insights from earlier days turn out to be
misleading or in vitro artifacts... |
