It is because of Dr. XXX’s extensive background and outstanding achievement
that he has been called upon to serve as a reviewer for four manuscripts
submitted to zzzz in a year. As outlined earlier, this is an important role
and as an Editor, my most demanding task is to find the most qualified
reviewers for the peer review system. In the case of Dr. XXX, the manuscript
reviewed concerned yyyy, one of the areas for which Dr. XXX is an expert
evidenced by his publications. For this task, I selected reviewers extremely
well versed in the subject and Dr. XXX was certainly among that group. I
was not disappointed. Dr. XXX provided a timely and insightful review of the
assigned manuscript that pointed out areas for improvement in the
manuscript. This, in turn, allowed the authors of this manuscript to improve
the quality prior to publication and thereby protect and enhance the
reputation of zzzz. Dr. XXX has also served as a reviewer for the other
three editors of zzzz, for which he reviewed manuscripts in the areas of ….
