基督教的性质也是在不断演化的。中世纪的基督教是黑暗的，压迫的。 宗教革命以来
的基督教，这里主要是新教，Protestants, 对于推动和维系西方文明、法治、道德甚
至经济是积极面大于消极面的。社会学家韦伯有很多论述，虽然他的观点后来也受到很
大批判。
关于宗教和现代化在学术界一直存在争论。 现在普遍认为欧洲的宗教信仰程度在降低
，美国是个特例。关于宗教和经济发展在学术界也没有定论，目前很多研究显示新教比
例高的国家经济要发达很多，比如美国，德国，加拿大。 美国的宗教信仰在六七十年
代一度下滑，而到了80年代开始回升，也就是从追求极端个人自由转向个人、家庭和社

I am furious about the Kids Table - Government shut down from Jimmy Kimmel
Live. It was suggested by one of the children that killing all Chinese would
solve the debt problem for the US, and EVERYONE including the adult host is
laughing about it. The host even commented that "This is interesting!"
The comment "Killing all the Chinese" is NOT a joke, no matter who says it.
It is totally unacceptable. Jimmy Kimmel and the ABC network should know

I am very angry at the genocide speech given in the show. Mr. Kimmel
manipulated children to tell audiences to "KILL CHINESE" to solve a
financial problem. Mr. Kimmel further addressed this idea as 'interesting'.
It is inhumane and immoral to express the hate speech, especially by
children and to children.
