IDE is cool, but SWT need explicitly GC, sometime a little unsafe. |

我下载java J2SE的时候， 选择了下载boudle with NetBeans IDE。 结果
这个家伙， sigh, 一言难尽啊。 我的机器是英文版windows XP。 为了让
terminal 可以显示中文， 我就在language setting里边选择了， non-unicode
的program, 使用default 中文。 这个选择对unicode 的软件没有影响。
可是没想到这个NetBeans居然是个随风倒的家伙。 当我开启的时候， 它就
自动默认我的系统语言是Chinese, 所以软件成了中文版本。 看起来别扭级了。
然后我turn off language setting 中non-unicode program default lang - Chinese
以后呢， 再启动netbeans， 他就变成英文版奔了。 可是turn off 以后，
存中文软件就不能显示中文窗口了。 telnet也不能看中文了。 ：（ 而且
switch on and off每次需要重新启 |

里面的问题还多着呢，很多问题到了FFJ里都没解决。性能也狂差。
我最喜欢的IDE是eclipse和intellij idea. |

I believe the default setting is actually compile-as-you-type, which
underlines any error right after you have typed it. At first I felt it
was annoying, but once I got used to it, it saves me a lot of compile
rounds.
Eclipse 3.0 also does this. From my experience on both IDE's, I'd say
they are equally good, but then when you throw in the $500 price tag on
IDEA... 8-)
Also Eclipse's "flashier" interface is more appealing to me. IDEA is
probably one of the nicest Swing-based applicat |

做Web比较多, 又懒得下各种各样的plugin. 而我想要的功能, 编辑器, CVS支持,
ANT支持, Junit支持, 内置tomcat, 简单Database browser等等Netbeans基本
一次download全部搞定. 另外4.0 还加了refactoring, 速度也比3.5/6要快.
还有就是, IDE习惯了一套, 基本上懒得去学别的, 我最早的时候一直用Emacs + JDE,
用了很久. |

Yes, it is more than an IDE, it's a platform. If you are not plugin developer,
you do not need to learn how to make eclipse plugin.
The amount of plugins and community support for eclipse are unbeatable. E.g.,
the first tool support for Hibernate and Struts come up with is eclipse
plugin.

I've already download and installed Eclipse. Then I realized there's no C++
compiler installed in XP. So I googled and found it seemed MinGW would help.
However, after installing MinGW, I still cannot compile a simple "hello,
world" code.
Anyone can give suggestions, or give links about step-by-step instructions

an error saying:
"Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.springide.org."
I was trying to use Spring for my current project (first time) and would
like to check out whether or not Spring IDE is helpful. Do you guys have
any experience/knowledge on this? If it does not worth it, I guess I'd
better give up. Thanks. |

It's useful somewhat, like help you check error in spring XML in
compile time. Refactoring etc.
You can live without it though, particularly if you are using annotation
for injection. |

Can anyone recommend a good IDE for C++?
I used jBuilder for java before, and really likes its ability to
automatically expand all the possible function names while I type the first
few letters.
I now use the Eclipse 3.3.0 for C++, but it does not provide such function (
so that each time, I have to compile the code to know if I mis-type the
function/library names).
