08年七月，LG给买了个超薄超贵的Toshiba portege. 带三年保修，以为象 dell一样的
可以随便修，结果问题一大堆。
先是SD reader 没法用， 寄过去修， 回来CDROM毁了， 只好去local的repair center
修， 结果修了三次， 总算修好了， 可是他们把我的底座摔坏了， 还不告诉我， 幸
亏我小心看了， 去年SD卡又坏了， 我懒得修了， 结果今年lcd hinge 也断了， 结果
人家不保修！Dell都是谁叫随到， 第二天就来。
人家告诉我要修要200. 我一看ebay电脑就值300.
算了， 后来想起电脑是master platinum买的， 是不是有extended warranty？ 像
这样的问题， 是不是等到三年保修结束， 可以去claim 那additional的一年？ 还是
就是1年+additional 1 年？ |

Interview 1: 学校T
这个学校有phd program，所以我把它当作是research school。当时面试机会来得很快
，让我措手不及。走之前一天才做好slides，准备也不够充分，更要命的是，这是我这
一辈子第一个面试，所以彻底的惶恐紧张……
面试那天的安排真是让我觉得--情何以堪，情何以堪啊！回到hotel的时候是绝绝对对的
身心俱损，因为这一天我从早上7:15开始到晚饭为止，马不停蹄地见了17个老师，本科
生和研究生代表，外加dean，每个meeting20分钟，中间还穿插着跟系主任的N次重复面
谈。我面试前一天一晚上基本上没怎么睡着，心想我以前也熬过通宵，一个晚上不睡应
该没啥大问题，结果事实打了我一个响亮的耳光……
上午的面试我感觉很不错，我惴惴不安地坐在会议室里等老师进来，结果进来的几个老
师都非常友好，让我大为意外。他们基本上一直在跟我说funding,funding,fuding，告

of academia is you get paid for what you like. it is more than a job, somet

当然俺经常开长途旅行。如果有拖车，倒车会比较麻烦，每次要开进小路或
小lot的时候都得先计划好开出来的路线，如果stuck就麻烦了，因为带拖车
的truck不能按一般方法倒车。如果方法不对又用蛮力硬倒，会把连拖车的
hinge别断。建议租车的时候好好和租车公司的人请教一下倒车的方法。 |

This should be done by glass company most of the time, I am assuming you are
talking about frameless setup here.
What size doors, are you replacing old ones or just install a new one?
My trim carpenter charge me $20 per door to install just to give you some
ideas. That is a pre-hung door, so he does have to drill the door lock or
router the hinges. |

面大多都是实木门板，夹板的box，欧洲的hinge.比ikea的质量好了多了去了。按按最
里面的板子，ikea的最软。连homedepot的都比不上。 |

4 pulleys 估价$150
换完弹簧 又加上bottom rubber和8 feet strut additional $30
(garage door 以前被拉坏过一次 我上了块4 feet strut 用了半年多也被拉弯了 这次换掉了)

被告知弹簧寿命是7-12 years
更换前把门抬起来后 弹簧处于收缩状态 装上去 没什么危险
再把两边各两根钢丝拉紧固定
随便google了一下 HD 卖 $50
