The target speed for the approach of Asiana Flight 214 was 137 knots, and
the crew can be heard on the cockpit voice recorder acknowledging the speed,

But the speed was significantly below 137 knots, and "we are not talking
about a few knots," she said.
At about four seconds before the plane crash landed, the pilots received an
"oral and physical" warning inside the cockpit that the plane was on the

National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Deborah Hersman were not
conclusive about the cause of Saturday’s crash. But they raised potential
areas of focus: Was there a mistake made in setting the automatic speed
control, did it malfunction or were the pilots not fully aware of what the
plane was doing?
One of the most puzzling aspects of the crash has been why the wide-body

July 16 (Bloomberg) -- As the Asiana Airlines Inc. jet neared Los Angeles

visual approach, meaning he’d manually fly instead of letting automation

The co-pilot froze, leaving them too high and off course, Hooper said about
the incident, which occurred several years ago. Hooper said he had to take
over the controls to get the Boeing Co. 777 back on track.
