发帖数: 4591 | 7 去年9月底去了一次Granite Mt，那次山顶上都是雪，却有漫山遍野好看的红叶红果，还有藏在雪下面的冰镇蓝莓。一边走一边吃，那次玩的很开心，所以计划来年一定要再来。
今年的夏天来的迟，到了9月中，想着蓝莓也该到时候了吧，再想象一下秋天的颜色，没等到月底就迫不及待地上山了。
今天天气非常好，蓝蓝的天空没有一丝云，就是有点热。山上没有雪（背阳的那里还是看到一小片），蓝莓不如去年多，不知是被採多了还是不到季节，红色和黑色的莓却不少。许多老美都拿着小瓶子小罐子在那里采摘。我仍是一边走一边顺手採几颗来吃，酸酸甜甜的，味道也不错。
上山的时候遇到下山的hiker告诉我，他们看到黑熊，让我小心点。不过有了阿拉斯加看熊的经验后，我已经不是那么担心和黑熊狭路相逢了，所以一直还是很期待能遇见熊。不过最后也没有看到，不过大家下次去记得小心点。遇到熊不要转身跑，举起手来wave，制造噪音，熊会以为是比他高大的动物知难而退的。：）
trail难度和Mt Si差不多，不过上了2迈之后trail上大石块比较多，到山顶石头就更多了，没有Mt Si的trail那么好走。近summit那块石头堆积了很多，去年去没觉得有 |

出口附近的Granite Mountain去踏秋。去年就有打算造访一下这个非常艰苦的，但是景
色视野具佳的Trail，说他艰苦，单程4英里，海拔升高3800英尺，将是我曾经爬过的20
多个trail最陡峭的，说他景色视野具佳，是因为它和Mt Pilchuck 很相似，目的地是
一个有360度视野的山峰，山顶还有Fire Outlook。这个Trail的trail head和上次去过
的Lake Annette很近。
很快，来到登山口，此时已经停满了车辆，不得不把车停到来时的路边，准备就绪，上
路。Trail的前1/3，基本上都是在密林中串行，没有想到，外面虽是阳光灿烂，密林里
冷气袭人，幸亏待了多余的衣服，赶快穿上。坡度渐渐增加，身体很快就暖和起来，渐
渐的树木变得稀少，阳光终于又照到了身上，此时，路边的已经变成红色，黄色的各种
树木成了最好的伴游者。一路上当然少不了真正的Hikers，很多都是一大早来的，而我
的出发时间（从登山口上山）则是12点30分左右。

我本也想装quartz, 因为料理方便，也没辐射问题担忧。但听local dealer "Artistic
Stone Kitchen and Bath" 说， quartz contains raisin, 所以不太耐热，不能把锅
子从炉子上直接放上去，也不能把pan从oven直接放上去, may leave dent or mark.
quartz也比granite重很多，另外，quartz需3个星期安装时间，这三星期就没厨房用了
，granitez只需1-2天。 |

我厨房台面挺大的，主要是还有个86" x 38"的breakfast bar. 挺喜欢tropical brown
的， 但网上查了，比起其他的14种常用granite, tropical brown是能测出氡气值的三
种花岗岩之一,尽管氡气值挺小的。
tan brown装一大片再加两长条，有点担心使厨房显得暗。Uba Tuba也是深色系列， |

1。 我和contractor去slab supplier选好了lot/slabs。
因为每个lot的可能有些不同，所以特意让他标记好了我们选中的。
2。 fabrication 之前，去让我看了一下有没有defect, scratch 啥的。
3。 到我家来装的时候，仔细看发现只有2块是我们选的slab，其它的都
不一样。虽然是同一种名字，但肯定是不同的slab。
现在他们说我fabricate之前approve的就是这个slab，只能把我喜欢的
两块换走。 但我无法接受。现在厨房装了一半。
现在他威胁说他要完成安装，今天不答应就要把材料给他的律师告我。
我想问一下几个问题：
1。 what is the worst I can get?
对我不利的是，他的承诺（选中指定lot）没有写在contract里。

情况比较复杂，大致如下：

房子的租期是今年6月1日到8月1日，短租的暑假，租金750每月，security deposit同
样的数目。与其他两名室友合租。
8月1日查房的时候房东发现她的granite counter top有一块变色了，很不高兴，想把
整块counter top换了，说要扣留我们的security deposit，会找公司报价之后再联系
我们。她说肯定是我们把烫的锅子直接放在台子上造成的。我们一直不承认。因为那一
块地方是放的调料，从来没有放过锅子。而且granite就是因为抗高温的特点，才卖的
比较贵的。
她说换变色的部分counter top不会太多，也就几百块。
我们当时就觉得，几百块对她来说不多，对我们来说太多了，就据理力争。
首先，变色的原因不明，如果是因为烫坏了，那就根本不是我们，如果是其他原因，倒
有可能；
第二，我们不能确定在我们来之前是不是已经变色了。她说我没有在入住查房的时候写

decent granite can be tougher than you thought. besides, i like the natural
look of granite--you can even see the flow of diff minerals inside. it's
really pretty.
corian's main advantage is minimal maintenance--it's man made. not porous
like granite--soy sauce can hardly stain your counter top. granite requires
sealing every 12-18 months depends on usage.

钱。
我也找过华人师傅，价格便宜一些，人也不错，但可惜没有license，我担心出了事情
，保险公司有借口不保，还是没敢用。特别是和水电有关的部分，我还是求稳了。
关于美国人contractor,我onsite谈了3-4家，人都很nice,onsite价格也还好，比华人
师傅贵30%吧，但一般当时谈得价格，回头你问他要真正的报价单时，会又比onsite谈
得贵20%。 没关系，你再和他继续谈，砍砍价，不行的话就不用他呗。现在经济形势也
不很好，他们一般都是想找活干的。

不选granite的主要原因并不是辐射，而是它会吸水。似乎餐馆里面的厨房都不可以用granite countertop的，因为卫生不达标。
我认为granite countertop是一个盲目的fashion。我家的granite我也没看出怎么好看。有很多台面看着比它强多了。
至于辐射，大多数granite countertop辐射都不高。但是确实有少数极高的。 |

全部坼了, 准备把厨房换上granite countertop. 现在有两种方案: 1. 自己在HD买现
成的柜子, 自己装订, 然后请卖granite countertop 的中国店师傅来量尺寸,然后他们
包安装granite countertop. 2. 把全套granite countertop, 柜子材料, 安装包给他
们, 那价格肯定不便宜. 没钱人总是要考虑钱. 有谁自己做过? 我以前给自己出租的
小房子装过上面的柜子, 因为桂子少, 而且是要出租, 所以不用考虑是否设计美观. 现
在是自己要长住的房子, 是否给请他们来做会不会设计好的? 还是就照前任的柜子位
置买柜子自己安装就行? |

This particular granite is from Llano Uplift, TX, which is around 1.2-1.3
Billion years old.This type of granite is also found in other places in US,
especially to the north.
The texture,also called Rapakivi texture, is characterized by a white
plagioclase rimming pink K-feldspar.
I personally prefer buying older granite, but some younger ones without the
texture are still good. |

其实厨房还没有 finish。这一块，头续多，工作琐碎，花得心思多，反而还有不少 美
中不足的心病等着 fix。版上有姐妹想看，就也秀出来了。顺便听听建议。
before －
原来的厨房，一看就是二三十年前的装修。几个 keywords：白色小磁砖，厚重的陶瓷
sink，陈旧的橱柜，老式的顶灯。。。都是必须要重做的。
而且，抽油烟机装在island 正中，老式厨房的顶本来就矮，只有7尺半，弄这么个庞然
大物，把什么都block了，一眼看着就难受。
地上铺的磁砖，我也不喜欢。 厨房 跟 family room 是整体打通连贯的，我喜欢从地
面感觉上也是连贯通畅的，况且我一直以来习惯了厨房用地板，温馨一点。只要勤打扫
就好了。
构想 －
首先决定改变结构，想把 range hood 挪到厨房侧面，这样管道也要改一下，跟
contractor 沟通了一下， 看看了房檐和外墙，他说没问题。
这样 Island 就变得更加 visible 了 ，灶台移走了，island 从面积上讲也会更实用
