1. 总体来说保险公司的任务是两个： 一是赚钱，就是赚的term ins 的钱，以为pay
out rate只有 1%. 二就是帮你管钱，拿去投资各种金融产品，这样如果赚钱的话大家
一起赚，于此同时投保人还得到一定的COVERGAE ，这是WHOLE LIFE，一般来说是
GAURANTEED WHOLE LIFE（不要与vul混淆了）
2. 75%的定期保险会在半路上lapse， 所以很多小的保险公司最爱TERM， FREE MONEY.

3. 一般大公司也喜欢term， 因为有机会给你convert. 这也就是一石二鸟吧。会先叫
你买term,后来再推销给你whole life， 因为每个定期险都有这个免费的rider.
关于convertibility, 一般5年的term折合绿是37%，10年的是11%， 20年的只有8%。
所以时间越长的term是小保险公司一般比较喜欢卖的，越短的term越不推荐客户购买。
支付能力强的公司（广告插播，象我们公司，哈哈哈），更喜欢卖5yr term 或者是

问过小米了，我们学校学生没有任何paid time off。已经抄送学生，同说表明一两周
以内可以考虑，时间太长不可以。hoho，目前funding不多，不过学生不太缺。地球少

话说我第一个学生是中国学生，大概是我们系历史上最用功的学生了，也是好朋友。开

现在毕业了还经常联系。这个学生的确超过所有后来招的其他国家的学生（包括白人）
，现在还很想念（PS，我们都是女生，所以不用想歪了）。不过后来招的几个中国学生
就差强人意了，所以招学生也靠运气阿。
有几个学生暑假也有找intern，我也鼓励他们去做intern。但是做intern的学生也都有
做一些科研，暑假结束之后做了报告，讲了intern的东西，讲了自己的research。有条
有理。非常professional。结束之后还参加了会议，做了报告。倒是一直在做research
的一个中国学生，什么报告都没做，一问三不知。最后是在忍无可忍了才下了死命令要

term虽然简单易懂也便宜点, 可是过期你就没保了。再保可就不像现在这个年纪这么便
宜了。 国债基金你有闲钱固然可以随便买， 但是基本的保障没解决你怎么去搞更高一
层的投资？所以说保险是基石，投资是加码。
whole life的话只要找到信得过的公司，无论是在CASH SURANDER或者保额都是有
GAURANTEED的基本保证的。假设你活到121岁然后去世了， 保险公司照样按你的保额付

买老房子最重要的就是要看几个大件换过没有：锅炉、压缩机、门窗、屋顶。其中门窗
看具体漏不漏风，屋顶是10年，锅炉压缩机大概是20年。换的话全加上2W不止。
而且你这个买了还没法要求Gaurantee， 因为你买的时候已经知道快到年限了，除非你
有证明说你的炉子应该可以工作超过20年。
别听代理的，他当然多一事不如少一事，要求减价吧，房主应该心里有数的，知道这房
子的问题 |

从我这次经验看，TripRewards不太可能找到符合Best Rate Gaurantee价格的第三方网
站；Best Western和Hilton都很会找理由，不prove你的claim。就Marriott最爽快了。
有了BRG，如果你有Marriott的premium pound（或者bonus bucks），加上8折的GC，真
的不花多少钱就住店了。eBay有售。
我们这次大概也就不到70一晚上吧。:) 不过不要滥用BRG，用多了，这个deal就死了。
尤其在niagara falls，brock plaza居然也算3星，如果bid到那里，哭死。
再说一下，我们住的Renaissance。
位置真的不错，到那里都是walking distance。如果冬天去 |

hotwire有lowest price gaurantee，如果不是网络最低价他返还双倍差价
然后找找其他网站days inn的价钱，如果比那个低，就可以price match
网上就能操作，1-2天前就能退回来。。。

保信(letter of gaurantee)是不会被批temporary visitor visa（即旅游签证）的。
即使申请的是transit签证也不行。而且他们会把申请材料送去东京，转一圈下来要两
周以上。
请问，近期拿到日本签证的朋友，你们都是什么身份，拿到的是什么类型的签证(
visitor or transit or other)，你们都用了邀请信和担保信了吗？邮寄还是面签？
尤其是F1且没有使用邀请信和担保信，而拿到签证的朋友，请回复一下。

，还有别的什么的我忘了。我记得的就是我以前问过我在vet那里工作的一个朋友，她
给指出了利弊让我自己做决定，不是一个“of course you should do it”这样的答案。
建议详细问过vet再作决定。有的猫本身已经没有很多绝育可以避免的问题,挨刀到底是
不是worthwhile要仔细选择。如果你的猫是indoor only, 那就没有accidently生小猫
的问题,所以那一条好处就是moot了. 个人觉得做手术单从猫的角度说很难讲是不是人
道. 如果别人把你阉割了所以你没有hormones的问题,你觉得算不算人道呢? 还有有些
猫手术以后可以变的脾气很不好,所以那方面也不是gauranteed的事情.总之因素很多..

Most likely, if you have an index built on last_name, you will have full
