season. but i found a clip of artem doing foxtrot and i have to say he beats
all the ballroom dancers on this season. who did the choreography for smooth
last season, anyone? it really is a lot better than what we've seen on s2,
maybe it's becasuse the dancers aren't as good:p |

but Blake did the same routine that night which was on a whole
different level
Artem was lucky that he didn't get to do any hip-hop at all
he did a lyrical, a foxtrot,a Paso, a comtemprary, and a chacha
( choreographed by Alex De Silva), which got him kicked out of the show. |

five standard dances, especially waltz and foxtrot, body weight should stay
on one foot at a time for as long as the music allows, and the time the
weight is split between two feet should be minimized, so as to make the
movement more energy efficient and lend the dance a sense of serenity and
suave.

Their sharp swing-and-hold in the foxtrot is so beautiful. Feel I am getting
a bit obsessed with standard/smooth now...

different from those in intl style, though)
social style latin:

american smooth/international standard:

is, for Tango and Foxtrot, which has a basic two measure phrasing, you
breath in at count 7, and breath out the rest count. For Waltz, breath in at
5, and breath out rest of the counts. Quickstep is more complex, normally
only need to breath in once every four measure, and need to adjust that with
individual choreography. The video also mention that sometimes you need to
hold breath, like in tango, to achieve the "monumen |

I'll pose the question to a American smooth dancer the next time I see one.
Thoughtful, and aparently into good dancing, as you are, I would suggest
that you start with the International style. You'll learn to dance properly
and it's easier to find instructors who teach properly. I seldom see many
smooth dancers with great techniques.

popular and taught more often than international, you east/west coasters! :p
skyrain, even though every measure only has 4 beats, measures can be grouped
together into phrases, so you have a longer time frame to play with and can
have variations. it is probably beyond your basic foxtrot lesson so i
wouldn't worry too much about it.
taking a credit course is a great way to get your feet wet; i started there
too:p didn't learn m |

看了几集，最大感想是国标现在真热啊。能想象如果三年前这样一个舞蹈比赛节目会有
这么多跳国标的人入选吗？不是我瞧不起我们自己人，毕竟一直以来国际作为一个舞蹈
形式和芭蕾，爵士等等无论在专业人士还是观众眼里都无法相提并论啊。一个DANCING
WITH THE STARS 居然这么大能量，啧啧。
现在还没有特别看好的。HOK真的很可爱：）SAMBA虽然跳得一般，也算努力了，怎么也
比那个FOXTROT强。

dancing experience before college. Plus, I danced salsa and tango for quite
a while. All these helped me to learn ballroom quickly.
I improved alot on standard this summer, especially foxtrot and tango. We
haven't learned much waltz recently, so I dont' know.
But I have to say it's quite different when moving from social dances to
ballroom. The lead-and-follow becomes weaker, and sometimes I dont feel the
lead at all. I |

find the original post from Musique - maybe it is older than 360 days.
Musique said, must watch from 3:50 or 5:30, I vaguely remember - and you
were not part of that discussion? Does that ring bell?
I just searched youtube and couldn't find it, either - strange. There are

Waltz fallaway revere slip pivot listed two optional timings: 123&, or 1,2&3
Foxtrot fallaway reverse listed several optional timings:
SQQS,SQQ&,SQ&Q,S&QQ,QQQQ
But there is no variation in timings as for waltz chasse or quick open
reverse. As far as I know, the majority of syllabus dancers still dance
chasse as 12&3. Then is SSQQ for quick open reverse allowed in closed
syllabus? Sorry for being such a bookworm. :P |
