大看得进哎，我咋觉得跟他小时候看社戏一样，我也看得我昏昏欲睡。有些情节不错，
但总的好像太长太散啊。另外有些杂文很啰嗦，目的性强的文章我觉得文气总是有损的
，尤其跟人吵架的或者倾向性很强的文章。
以前学过george orwell的一篇散文说language style的演变，早先流行flowery
language，rococo style，精致繁复是高雅。现代流行lean style，比如海明威的。我
刚刚提的我写的sophie's choice读后感，里面也写到french lieutenant's woman这个
小说/电影，这个是仿维多利亚时代的文体，贵族男主角的语言就很文绉绉很讲究修辞
。平民女主角的语言则很现代，直接简单。现代人一般习惯看lean style，但lean不是
贫瘠，还是要有内涵的；好的flowery style也不是花哨堆砌，也要准确有深度。
french lieutenant里的男主角语言就不错。

微妙的, 除非这个人比你senior 很多, 一直又mentor 你.

FLOWERY BRANCH我看也不算太偏，和我们州的华人大部队离的不算远，半个小时车程可
以找到华人超市和餐厅的。
4万一年，单身的，在我们州可以过的挺舒服的。先暂时不要买房子，除非看到特别好
的Deal，当既是投资又是自住。
吃用开销全美国都差不多吧，我们州不高不低。
本科毕业这个收入我觉得可能也差不多了，缺点是小公司，不知道发展前途怎么样。我
有个朋友的女儿，金融专业毕业后找到chase的工作，公司 又培训拿了不少证书，现在

杨宪益的，只是对他的翻译风格有不同意见，觉得他翻的鲁迅不够味，英国味道浓。我

and I admire your mastery of words. I wish I could write like that, but I
can’t. They said I have no clue of simplicity, but I think I simply lack
skills to convey thoughts in a vivid and concise fashion.

Long ago, one friend of mine planned to come to the states to study, so she
wondered if I could get someone to revise her personal statement. I turned
to a Dutch Ph.D for help. This lady speaks and writes in perfect English.
