标 题: 问个tiff转 pdf的问题

在准备一个manuscript，按照杂志社的要求，text和figures要放在一起，生成一个大
的pdf文件，现在试了三种方法：
1. text从doc转成pdf格式,再用adobe acrobat 8 professional的create pdf功能，把
text（.doc) 和figures (.tiff)合并成一个pdf
2.在photoshop里把figures从tiff存成pdf格式，然后用adobe acrobat 8
professional的create pdf功能，把 text(.pdf)和figures (.pdf)合并成一个 pdf
3.用word, 在text(.doc)文件里，直接插入figures,然后一起转成pdf格式
问题是，用以上任何一种方法生成的pdf文件，电脑上看着都很好，但一打印就不行了

好是用水做负重，下山的时候倒掉。给你个大致的我们的bench mark: 4 miles, 3300
ft, 2小时及格，1:30优秀。不是说你体能达不到就一定不能登，但是你如果能及格就
会有一定的saftey margin。登山不是跑road race，you can't go all out. when
things happen, rescue might not be immediately available, 即使是Rainier，
rescue也经常是days away

covered by some figures, mostly due to the top of the figure. it seems some
figures extend its top margin to cover texts. How to solve this?
another associted questions, when I use dvipdfmx, it doesn't convert eps
figures at all, just leave space where the figures should be.

previously I used
\begin{figure}\begin{center}...\end{center}\label{fig:demo}\end{figure}
which produced the wrong reference number,
then I changed to
\begin{figure}\centering ...\label{fig:demo}\end{figure}
now it produced the correct number. |

caption of figure, it says Figure 1. title..., but in the text, it says
figure 5.1, since it is in chapter 5.
How to make the index consistent, in this case I cant to have both Figure 1
(or 5.1)? Thanks a lot.

For my case, 7 main figures and 8 supplemental. I contributed 3 main
figures, 1 panel of another big figure, and 5 supplemental figures to get
the 2nd place co-first author. The reason to the 2nd is because the first
author initiate the project before me. If he do not agree, I would not
combine the data with him. He lose more than me. |

今天下午我们三个人跟老板一起改paper。老板要先回家，让我们在他走之后整理一下
figure顺序, make sure everything is in order，然后把文章email给他。
我跟两个印度人整理了大部分之后，要参加一个朋友的farewell dinner必须先走。留
下他们两个完成其余的小部分。
我回到家后，看到两个印度人在我走了一个小时后给我和老板发了email：
Hi xxx,
Please find the updated text and figures. We have not worked on discussion,
but organized figures and it’s references in the text. Some of the figures
at the end, either need to be deleted or to be referenced in the text; we
can discuss about it next week.

发帖数: 663 | 33 最近半年一篇paper投了两个Nature 子刊，先后被拒。第一次被拒确实主要是自己的问
题，有些问题在文章中没有交代清楚。review完了以后直接被拒。后来按照reviewer的
意见改了以后rebuttal了一下，editor说original reviewer3个里面有两个反对，不考
虑再送审，直接拒。
没办法，把文章改了一下，主要是不同Nature sub journals 有不同的figure 数目的
限制，继续投另一个Nature Sub, 结果还是送审以后被拒。这次4个 reviewers。 从
reviewer's comments来看，两个反对，两个建议小改。但是巧的是，这次4个reviewer
中的两个人和原来reviewers是同两个人。这两个人直接把原来的comments发了过来。
但是其中一个人的reviewer comments根本没有改figure number, 比如说我们原来在
Figure 5 中的图现在变到Figure 6了，但是这个reviewer的comments中还是说Figure

1. Read the author info of PNAS, make sure you understand each point of the
guideline;
2. Make plans of how you want to arrange the figures (1, 1.5 or 2 columns).
Prepare your figures/tables according to those guidelines, eps files for
figures and docx for tables;
3. Prepare and revise the Figure legends.
4. Prepare and revise the Material and Methods part.

在美国，public figure的定义可能和你想象的不太一样。
不关是政客，演员，大公司ceo等人是，
普通人，如果你因为什么事情突然出名了，
你就变成了一个public figure，而不管你是已什么方式出名。
举一个例子，如果在美国，
芙蓉，凤姐，罗永浩可以都可以算作public figure。
要加薪他爸及其律师也是。
或者一个普通人给一个重要案件做证人，
导致媒体对你的曝光，
他也是一个public figure。
你的祖宗八代都有可能被对方律师挖出来。
辛普森案那个警察证人，不就是这样栽的吗
方的网站，和cnn，fox一样，享受和他们一样的宪法第一修正案权利。
你自己打印几份册子拿出去给人发，也是一种媒体。
