在7月20日这一天里很忙 — 他们纷纷来到了加大圣地亚哥分校健康科教中心，参加在
此举行的第五届北京大学生命科学院校友会年会 (5th PKU Bio Net Symposium)。他们
中近的来自南加的洛杉矶、橙县、以及圣地亚哥本地，远的来自美国波士顿、田纳西、
纽约、西雅图、旧金山，更远的来自太平洋彼岸的中国北京、上海等地。120多名北大

我个人知道从公司回学校的只有两个，都是很牛的。用脑子想想就知道，美国学术界几
乎每个位置都有上百人竞争，怎么可能很多工业界的被lay-off的能拿到学校的位置？
当然是有，但是绝对很少，尤其是去好学校。

The Great Government Shutdown is not that big a deal, even for the
government. The federal civilian workforce includes 2.9 million bureaucrats.
Out of that, only 800,000 are being furloughed, or just 27%. Even for these
workers, the shutdown just amounts to a paid vacation for a few days.

金经理，他就是华裔Owen Li（欧文·李）。

对冲基金Canarsie Capital的华裔创始人Owen Li在不到一年多的时间内，把投资者的
近1亿美金亏成了20万，案件曝光后，曾一度轰动华尔街。美国证券交易委员会（SEC）
和司法部介入调查，Owen Li被控一项证券欺诈罪以及作假口供罪。2015年12月16日在
纽约南区联邦法庭认罪。
Owen Li时年29岁，他于2013年1月创建了Canarsie对冲基金，起步时有大约10名投资者
和1655万美金基金。到2013年底，Canarsie的资产增加到4775万美元，业绩不俗。Owen
Li第一年就赚了220万美元。2014年，他再筹集了1680万资金。该基金直到2015年1月
崩溃前，有41名投资人和5680万美金资产。
根据法庭文件，Owen Li自2014年3-4月间，开始制造虚假的做空交易报告。其中一名中

此人在FB上揭了警察局这些乱七八糟的黑幕，又是个黑人。留他活口肯定是重要不安定
因素。此人被和谐几率超高。
