书就象中共党史的提纲，除了第一章“我的一家人”和最后两章“阶下囚”、“保外就
医到济南”，其余的简直是我们几十年来被强迫灌输的那种千篇一律的内容。我自幼不
喜欢读《红旗飘飘》那样的书籍，对别人谈论四野Ｘ纵的司令是ＸＸ，叶挺独立团如何
如何那样的话题恐怕连听的份都没有。再加上我读书慢，不会一目十行那样跳着来，不
存在精读、泛读的事情，只有读或者不读。也幸亏我笨，才没有辜负吴司令的一片苦心
。这本书真是难得的阅读经验，他的惊人记忆力，鲜活的个性，离奇的经历和军人的憨
直调皮都使我对这个跃然纸上的吴司令和那个特定的文化环境思之再三，久久不能释怀。
一、恶名
近几年来对有人要给林彪翻案的事时有所闻，但看了媒体上曝的料并没有让我牵肠
挂肚热血沸腾。一来我的家庭与我的经历都同那一事件没什么直接的联系；二来没人可

遇到这本中学生读物前已经好久没有投缘的书进账了。Gandhi：Fighter without a
Sword是儿子从学校的免费书堆里淘回来的，书页枯黄如古籍状。书于1950年出版–那
时甘地被刺刚刚两年–次年获得美国少年图书最高奖的「银牌」Newbury Honor。作者
是美国颇有名气的儿童读物作家Jeanette Eaton。看来这书在美国读者不少–儿子拿到
的这本是1970年第十四次印刷。儿子读了书，写进读书日志里。老师在日志的Gandhi一
词旁边批：「One of my favorites!」
几年前看过得奥斯卡奖的电影《甘地》。那时很受震撼，连看两遍。后来跟一个从印度
来的年轻人聊，问这部英国人编剧、导演、主演的电影是否印度味够浓。年轻人说电影
很真实。但也说现在的印度人对甘地的看法有分歧。甘地是地道的苦行僧，对西方式的
物质现代化不感兴趣。当代印度GDP增速直追中国，看来是对甘地这一套不怎么以为然
了。这年轻人是虔诚的印度教徒，却也没读过著名的甘地自传。
这次读了书，才发现电影再好，信息量也不能跟书相比，哪怕电影是得奥斯卡的大片，
