关于用词
最常翻译成英文新约里“Lord”的希腊词是“kurios”，说的是某个有权力、所有
权和无可置疑的指挥权的人。一个相近的希腊词despotes有时候也翻译成新约里的“
Lord”，意思是一个对下属有绝对控制的统治者。Murray J Harris教授这样解释两个
词得区别：“显然despotes和kyrios的意思大部分相同；都可以翻译成lord或master。
如果我们要区分两个词的侧重，kyrios表示“sovereign Lord”，despotes表示“
absolute Lord”
两个词在新约里都用来指耶稣是主。比如，约翰13:3，耶稣取用了kurios给自己：
“你称我老师和主（kurios）；你是对的，我的确是。”犹大书1:4里，一段由耶稣世

不幸的是，英语圣经的读者长久以来被蒙蔽在doulos这个词的全部意义之外，
这是因为英语翻译者一直在回避这个词的直译，转而翻译成“仆人”（servant）
或者“契约仆人”（bond servant)而不是翻译成“奴隶”（slave）。这种
回避有几百年的历史了，甚至早于King James Version。日内瓦圣经，清
教徒时代的主要圣经，一致的把duolos翻译成仆人（servant）（虽然按当时

耶稣常说的是他是主，他在给门徒洗脚的时候也不忘洗脑，念叨“我是主”，“奴隶不
能大于主”
你引的约翰13：12-17洗脚段落里，讳饰“奴隶”这个词，转译成仆人，
你可以查当初希腊文的原词，doulos，就是奴隶的意思。
