资。现在有这个option，买MassMutual的Individual Disability Income (DI)
Insurance，每月出$44，到时可以再多拿30%。
不知道板上有没有人了解这种保险的？
另外，term life insurance那种比较好呢？记得以前看过讨论，但帖子找不到了。。

现在有个option是向公司claim short term disability，可以领半薪回家休息半年。
我想了解一下，如果有了short term disability的记录，以后如果想跳槽，其他公司
会不会因为我大脑受过损伤而影响我的工作录取机会？
这种记录还有其他什么负面影响吗？

a barrier for him or her to find a job or hold a job.

They have 2 kids, 9, 11 years old. This is a plus. It seems they have good
income for the next year:their combined total of $7,380 a month: $5040/month
income from unemployment (good for 1 year), and
disability from the VA. $2300 for housing allowance when they start school
this September (good for 36 months).they want to sign a 2 year lease.

发帖数: 676 | 9 我记得是这样的：咱加州，SDI waiting period是一周。就是说你disable之后一周，
政府才开始发钱。我是用我自己的假期补上这一周。
加州SDI up to 6 weeks post delivery. 还有up to 4 weeks pre-delivery. 就是说
一共10周。这是没有任何complication的情况下。就是说只要你生宝，你就entitled
for 10 weeks。C-section adds two weeks post delivery.
举例说明，假设宝宝due date是2月28日，在DUE DATE前四周可以开始歇，1月31日准妈
妈officially disabled. SDI 递上去，政府从一周后也就是2月7日开始给钱。这一周
的waiting period可以用自己的PTO填上。如果due date到了还没有生，政府认栽，继
续给钱。如果due date之前就生了，政府赚便宜，可以少给点。生了之后，政府从生的
那天起给6周。
如果不打算歇那么久，比如工作到due date之前一周，那么政府应该从due date那天开
始发钱 |

报税：
(A) 首先是NJ的近6周SDI补贴，这个分成了两半：
A1: employer contribution part，比$1500少一点点，report在employer的第二份W2
上，要交联邦税和FICA，不用交NJ state tax；
A2: employee contribution part，比$1500多一点点，没有任何W2或者其他tax表
report，联邦税，FICA，NJ state tax都不用交，因为羊毛出在羊身上，这部分本身就
从NJ employee平时的paycheck扣的SDI保险；
(B) 其次是employer的short term disability保险福利部分，本来是100%工资，但因
为有NJ SDI补贴，所以保险公司就省钱了，把这部分SDI扣除剩余数额通过employer来
当成普通工资发，report在在employer的第一份W2也就是常规工资上，联邦税，FICA，
NJ state tax都要交。

问了保险公司，如果转为long term disability，我的payment就由保险公司给，而不
是在公司的payroll上，所以从转换的那一刻起，我的employment已经结束了。但我不
是很确信这点。难道一旦专为LTD后，我的h1b也跟着失效了吗？

很突然，明显与此有关。离拿disability SDI也就两个月了。妈的，老婆伤心就不说了
，因为她是h1b，可能得马上转h4，看看了网上的消息好像基本不quality
unemployment benefit，拼命argue好像有个别可以拿到的，这个比较少也无所谓，而
且好像申请这个会影响绿卡申请。比较烦的是Short-term Disability SDI也申请不到
了，因为没有loss of wages。这些平时叫我们缴税的时候怎么不问那么多问题，到用
的时候就不管用了。怎么办啊？有没有办法搞到SDI啊，我们正要交140申请。哎。谢谢

申请成功了。
新泽西的医生一般给开的假是前4周，后6周共10周。按due date填就可以了，这是医生
决定的，你无权修改。如果生晚了，还可以请医生按实际生产日期延长。如果早了，你
不就多赚了产后几天假么，偷着乐就行了，也不用改什么。
这10周的假，必须首先用自己积攒的sick day来cover，薪水会全额发放。cover不了的
，由temporary disability来cover，发薪水的60%，最多$590/week（记不清具体数据
了，自己查吧）。如果法律规定有1周gap没有pay，那就谁都没有办法规避。我家是LP
单位HR弄的，我不太清楚有没有gap。
生产6周以后，如果身体不适，可以请医生接着开病假条，接着用temporary
disability。如果身体恢复不错，但还想继续在家休息，就只能先用自己的vacation/
floating holiday来cover，薪水全额发放。如果假不够多，只能是unpaid leave或者

For income from EDD, my wife did not receive any 1099 or w2. I googled again
. It is not unemployment benefit. I will not pay tax.
For the income from insurance, we got a W2. So we will pay tax.

his lower left leg is artificial. This surprised me. His boxing technique is
fairly good. Though his movement is a little unbalaced, I would never imagine
