小鸟窝里下蛋，让宿主帮它们养育后代。这些寄生鸟的后代比宿主后代先出世，而且发
育得快，寄生鸟的后代因而比宿主鸟后代强壮，有力气将未孵出的宿主鸟蛋踢出窝，甚
至将刚出生、软弱的小鸟踢出窝。如果说 cowbird 小鸟还有点仁慈，能留下一两只宿
主后代，Cuckoo 小鸟则是手狠心辣，全部杀掉其它小鸟，让宿主鸟只抚养它！
下面看看这只 Cuckoo，当着人家鸟妈的面将小鸟拱下窝杀害。Cuckoo 长大后竟比宿主
Dunnock 大几倍，比如 cuckoo 小鸟可以比 reed warbler 宿鸟大 5 倍。
一个有趣的现象是，cuckoo baby 的 begging call 叫声象是一窝小鸟在哀求大鸟喂食

我小时候不懂事有的时候会欺负小cuckoo，但是我和他玩的时候，他有便便会主动把小
屁股撅出我的手掌，我当时看傻了。
后来小cuckoo走的那天晚上，我做梦梦到他和我依依不舍道别，说以后不能一起玩了，
很珍惜我们在一起的时光，希望我以后能幸福。同时他也给我展示了我家2只小鹦鹉会
在之后一年内离开（果不其然）。
我哭着醒来后发现小cuckoo果然已经僵硬了，大哭流泪。现在想起来依然非常伤心
从此以后发誓绝不伤害虐待任何小动物，也相信头上三尺有神灵（我没有任何宗教信仰

heron 浑身雪白，而它们的父母则是蓝色的；白头鹰幼鸟是全黑，头不白，尾巴也不白
；red fox cubs 也是浅黑色，根本不红......，这些不一样的幼仔，长得跟父母不一
样，难道父母会扔掉它们不管？同理，视频中的 reed warbler 看着幼年 cuckoo 跟它
们长得不一样，以为 cuckoo 长大后才改变，那料它不变了，不是 reed warbler 的种

学术视频里提过，科学家做了一个实验，从4个鸟蛋的窝里换掉第一个蛋，第一次做妈

十月底一天的傍晚，我照例到清华的大操场去散步。和往常稍稍不同的一点是还带了一
本书的草印本，准备在散完步后，到操场后面山路旁的椅子上去看。
我第一次看这草印本是二〇〇二年底。也是在这大操场，碰见也在散步的管先生，他照
例地慢下来，陪我一边走一边开聊。他告诉我口述回忆录已经完成，相当满意，准备出
版，要我先看看，并且要我“写几个字”。
当天晚上，他就把书稿和序一块儿拿来，我仔细地读了序，也快快地翻阅了本文，一口
地读完了（当然有些地方是跳过的），很感动，也屡屡地掩卷反思。过了两天，把书还
给他，说等出版时，一定为它“写几个字”。
后来，我们在操场上还碰了几次面，却再没提起此事，只是隐约知道出版的事正在进行
。然后，就是二〇〇三年三月二十日，完全没有预知，连手也没有挥一挥，管先生就忽
然地走了。
几位朋友商谈管先生的遗事，知道出版回忆录的事，进行并不顺利。雅明兄接洽了几家
出版社，都不太愿意接，传主在台湾的知名度不高，台湾的读者，对大陆上建国前后一
个红专样板的故事未必有兴趣。管夫人来台短短三天，对出版本书也表示强烈的保留意

德国化学巨头拜耳农业再一次因为把具有高度毒副作用的化学制剂投放市场而遭炮轰。
此前美国和德国有关当局对拜耳进行过调查，事由为整群蜜蜂神秘离奇死亡事件，是否
与拜耳公司最畅销杀虫剂有关。目前荷兰科学家正在研究欧洲鸟类的大量减少的原因。
最大嫌疑对象是一种革命性新式杀虫剂——系列型杀虫剂，名称为新式烟酰。拜耳公司
的下属分公司“农作物科学”公司（CropScience）是领军生产者；这家公司也是拜耳
公司负责转基因的分部。
荷兰的朱特芬（Zutphen）的实验毒理学服务处进行的检测指出，一种名为新烟酰的较

自己的后代？这个最著名的是杜鹃科的鸟（cuckoos)，不过北美的Black-billed和
Yellow-billed Cuckoo很少进行巢寄生。北美巢寄生的主要罪犯就是Brown-headed
Cowbird。我看见过小Chipping Sparrow成鸟喂养是它三倍体重的Brown-headed
Cowbird幼鸟。被巢寄生的Chipping Sparrow自己的幼鸟肯定不能存活下来，不是被
cowbird的幼鸟弄死就是竞争不过而饿死。

我是在2年前首先通过mitbbs上发起要求提升H1B名额，同时要求严查ICC提交多次申请
的白宫请愿。大概半个月的时间签名人数达到了7万多人，并没有到10万有些可惜。当
时也是希望美国政府能够看到我们的请愿，即便当年无济于事，也希望会对以后的申请
人能够有所帮助。
我在这里写这个，是想通过我一些观察来抛砖引玉来说说这个请愿有没有作用，还有没
有其它的方式比起请愿来更加有效果。希望国人能够在危难中团结一起想办法，而不是

錢買票進電影院看電影，有時候還是花兩三分鐘在網上瀏覽一下最新電影的trailer，
但很少能有一部能撩起進電影院的衝動。
藝術創作好像潮汐一樣，有高潮，有回落。就拿古典音樂來說，回頭看看，十八，十九
世紀似乎是大師輩出的年代。近代乃至現代鮮少出現像貝多芬，莫札特這樣的天才，退
潮還在進行著？再看看我們的傳統文化，民國時代的中國出了多少文學，國學，繪畫，
書法等等等等，現代呢？誰能數出一個？
還是回到電影，回到奧斯卡，自一九二八年首屆舉辦，出了多少經典，四十年代有：“
