我要替中国辩护，并不是因为我是一个中国人，而是因为我知道中国就和这世界上绝大
数的国家一样，虽然有很多丑陋的现象，但是他们是受害者。就
象这个犯罪集团里很多的人一样，他们来自各种种族，他们可能充当了工具，但他们不
是制造这一切，谋划这一切的人。虽然经常会暴露中国产品出现问题。但要知道中国是
世界工厂，他们只是打工者，他们只是按照各种雇主提供的配方来生产，他们并不知道
他们会产生怎样的后果。或者这些工人知道后果，但他们只是奴隶，他们又如何去改变
这一切？ 所以，当我的调查不断往前推进的时候，不可避免地会涉及各国的企业，但
这并不表明是针对这个国家或这个国家的人民，而是针对一种社会现实和丑陋现象。就
拿菲律宾来说，菲律宾是一个犯罪猖獗的国家，有很多犯罪分子，但是菲律宾人民却是
这个集团的受害者，他们／她们被绑架，沦为了牺牲品，人体实验对象。一个日本人，
强奸上千名菲律宾女孩，却没有受到惩罚。以前我也提到过，有20个国家的名单，这20
个国家的人民其实都是受害者。现在他们把矛头对准中国，或许仅仅是因为我揭示了他

俺刚到ASU的时候校长还是Lattie Coor。每一个Sun Devil都应该记住Dr. Coor的功绩
，就是在他的带领下ASU成长为一类研究型大学(Research-I University)，新修的社科
楼Lattie F. Coor Hall就是以他的名字命名的，是校园里唯一的蓝色建筑（其他建筑
都是以砖红色为基调的）。说起造楼，自从Michael Crow上任以来，ASU修了不少新楼
，但占用了大量停车场，对旧楼的保养也不重视，而且新楼多有豆腐渣工程，曾有过
Bio Design内部的玻璃从三楼掉到一楼，ASU Foundation (Fulton Center) 屋檐砸到
街上等事件，教工学生们对这些都颇有微词。

可惜此文和我众多别的帖子一样太监了。。。
缘起
一个月前，spring semester的colloquium series开张第一讲，我们可爱的90多岁的
James Crow又给大家免费享受了一场半个小时的音乐盛宴，果然还是宝刀未老。至少在
我这个提琴盲的耳朵里听来，和专业的音乐会也没有什么区别。曲罢，当天的演讲人
Olivier Pourquie开玩笑说，多谢Crow教授的欢迎仪式，"That's really unusual."
大家都笑啦。
沉浸在美妙的音乐中，我突然兴起，心中感慨万千，很想当场拿起笔来，为Crow写些什
么。从我刚来美国时，他对我们亲切的问候，到80等车时的偶遇，到每每的提琴表演，
到我们搬到一个楼层后时时的相遇和问候，经常的一起party，他的高谈阔论和幽默...
我眼中的Crow，有多少可以写啊！可是真的提起笔来，又觉得心中千言万语，不知从何
写起。加上我资质愚钝，拖了一个月才搞明白怎样申请my space, 实在惭愧。

实看看剪辑怎么制造恐怖，喜悦，绝望什么的，都有意思。你不是喜欢恐怖片吗？
关于换位置谈话这个镜头，没有什么正确答案的，不过我们可以来揣摩导演剪辑的意图
，和看这种意图是否达到（如果能找到剪辑师自己献身说法意图是什么，当然更好。但
是观众永远可以问到底效果有没有达到，对吧？）。我的理解是，这是剪辑师尝试用镜
头来表达两个人物的角色转换：记者pacino本应是发问的人，crowe应该是回答的人，
但是在2：36左右这个冲突里面，位置调换过来，crowe甚至质疑记者有什么资格来讲他
的故事，而在一般情况下，都是记者问受访者有什么资格受访。有意思的是，pacino说
完，I was out there giving my word and backing it up with action之后，镜头左
右关系又回到了开始的时候。这里导演的意图应该是，pacino把crowe说服了，回到了
正常的角色关系。
但是我觉得这个尝试很勉强。pacino的台词比较空洞，很难让人信服他这样就说服了

发帖数: 14569 | 30 Russel Crowe感觉在这片子里演得不是那么好，他的形象不够nerdy, 太肌肉男。而且不够敏感，我觉得Nash应该是比较敏感的人。Crowe一看就是神经很大条的那种。
我最喜欢的还是他在L.A. Confidential里的形象。
因为看过斯巴达克思，留下印象实在太深刻。看Gladiator的时候，除了觉得拍摄技术
进步了，没什么突破，附带也就没觉得Russel Crowe有什么出彩的地方。
当然可能跟我那时的英语听力太差也有关，电影院看，又不能打开字幕，大概就听懂了

要把这个南瓜做成一个Jack-o-latern。 于是昨天晚上，我们动手了。
先把南瓜的头 砍 下来，然后把它的肚子掏空， 再挖出两个眼睛， 拉出一个大裂嘴。
一个面目狰狞的南瓜灯就做好了。 （俺自己偷偷筛了几下糠，不知道儿子们有没有被
吓倒）
丁丁当当高高兴兴的把南瓜灯放到后院准备第二天晒干干
然后无话， 大家系数睡觉
睡到半夜， 突然惊醒， 床前站着个哭哭啼啼的小人， 哽咽的说： 妈妈， 半夜会有
crow来把我的南瓜吃掉的。。。
我压住狂乱的心安慰他： 不会的， crow不会吃你的南瓜的。
小人接着哽咽： 会的，会有crow来吃它的。
我气血攻心的问： 那你想怎么样吗？！
小人： 我要把南瓜收回来， 明天早上再拿出去晒。
于是， 半夜，明亮的月光下， 我光着脚跳到院子里，把那个丑陋的南瓜灯又给抱回来

三，在香港的逗留
CC抵港不久就接到了国立台湾大学校长的教授聘书，欢迎他去台大任教。随聘书还附有
校长的信，言明CC到台大后倘若觉得不合意，校方将随时提供方便帮助他去美国。但CC
婉言谢绝了台大的邀请。
CC到香港后写信给在美国的朋友， 告知摩尔根遗传学在中国大陆的困境，并求助谋职
，“如果我有可能在你熟知的任何大学或研究机构任职，我将乐于为其效劳”。这位朋
友将信转给了《遗传杂志》（穆勒当时为该期刊的编委之一），该期刊在1950年6月刊
登了这封信（显然是征得CC同意之后），并冠以“遗传学在中国死亡”的标题。
CC的这封信引起了美国著名遗传学家、诺贝尔奖得主穆勒 （Hermann J. Muller, 1890
－1967）的注意。穆勒利用自己的地位及关系，安排群体遗传学家克洛 （James Crow

（二）从奴隶制到《排华法案》
本系列第一篇回顾了华人和其他少数族裔所遭遇的警察暴力及其之后的司法不公， 通
过分析揭示这些现象背后的种族歧视意识。
那么在美国，种族歧视的根源在哪里呢？在此不得不对奴隶制作一些回顾和分析。认真
研讨了美国历史，深入了解了奴隶制之后，笔者认为奴隶制可以说是美国的一个原罪。
何出此言？且让我们回顾一下1787年夏天在费城举行的宪法会议。
在启蒙主义的影响下，18世纪后半期欧洲许多国家都已经开始废除奴隶制。但是当13个
殖民州的会议代表齐聚费城的时候，北部七个自由州（Free States）认为奴隶制是不
道德的，违背了独立宣言的建国理念，要求尽快废除奴隶制，但是南部六个奴隶制州（
Slavery States）为了维护其经济利益而坚决拒绝。经过整个夏天的辩论争执，最后双
