management consulting can usually land you some corporate job later.
the salary for phds in management consulting is usually not too bad. 100K
for fresh phds is reasonable. |

’t hire many from non-elite schools is because they hire very limited
number of people. If they can find enough good candidates from elite schools,
why would they want to open up the pool to a much larger audience to
significantly increase their recruiting cost? They have done their homework
and made a wise decision to use the most cost effective way to identify the

as a career path is the trajectory, especially the first
few years. It might not be as steep and well-defined in the
2nd tier or boutique firms as in mbb, but still much more
exciting than in corporate. But the down side is pretty
obvious, too. Long hours is the most frequently mentioned
one. But to me the biggest disadvantage is that it's much
harder to shine in a consulting firm than, say, an R&D dept
for ppl like me who have some cons |

发帖数: 113 | 10 对拓展视野有些帮助，也可以通过课内实习积累一些（商业/咨询类）经验。
想进MK，BCG，Bain还是很难的，但差一些的公司有可能。
如果只为了进Consulting而去读的话，我觉得不太合适。Consulting看似招人没硬性要
求，但正因为如此，任何专业的人都可以申请，所以竞争激烈。要是去读MEM的话还是
要多设想几个职业发展的路线。

而且不是光口语好，会做presentation 就能往上爬。
要会拍马屁，kiss ass, 老板得ass,客户得ass.
旅游和工作travel完全不一样。
Consulting刚开始也赚不到钱，没有马公多。
累得很。
想要家庭或者有家庭小孩得还是不要干了。

。我自己也剧痛恨去现场，尽量在办公室里面磨洋工。结果一年下来，我的billable
rate大概不到20%的样子。consulting工作过的人都知道这样子的billable rate早就可
以被fire掉了。不过我做的软件公司内部的人用着可是觉得都挺顺手的，领导也知道我
虽然billable rate低，并不是没干活，所以一年后仍然向上推荐升职。结果大头儿不
批，我自己也是对做consulting 心灰意冷，整天想着跳槽，心里也隐隐有点担心会不
会哪天给fire掉了。因为当时公司上层变动，砍掉不少人。
后来总算拿到了满意的offer，琢磨着抽个合适机会跟头儿摊派。这一天，隔壁办公室
的manager一个电话打过来“come to my office",似乎挺严肃的。进去后，头儿让把门
关上，然后告诉了我一句话。
这句话把我雷了半天没缓过劲儿来。你们猜他说了什么？ |

极度疲惫，走到了现在的失去热情的状态。在一家小公司做环境咨询，人少活多，亚历
山大，而且各种活儿都有，正常状态每天9小时。忙起来能忘记吃午饭，忘记上厕所，
晚上加班，满脑子想工作，凌晨醒来睡不着。拿白菜的钱，操白粉的心。有段时间极度
想辞职，慢慢自己调整过来，就是拒绝加班，下班了强迫自己不想工作的事，跟自己说
你想太多了你又不是老板。我不知道是所有的consulting都一样呢，还是我点儿背。当
然这份工作还有让我留恋的地方，比如老板的赏识，同事的融洽。忍不了的地方就是高
强度的工作，待遇就那样。以前读书的同学也是干了两年consulting辞职，现在在香港
找了份据说轻松多了的工作。我不知道这种轻松多了的工作对于学环境的是不是种奢望
，不知道是该跳槽呢还是换个方向（我有卡）。我是俩娃妈，下了班累趴，好想也推推
娃，有心无力啊。 |

多。本人是ME的master。
不知道各位对两个行业的前景看法如何？第一个公司做的东西个人比较感兴趣，而第二
个consulting觉得应该也会比较有意思，而且工作时间上比较自由。还有就是最近在找
工作的网站上搜出来不少HVAC方面的工作，不知道是不是这行最近发展的比较好。
现在虽然还没有拿着offer，但由于第二个是一个朋友介绍的，不太好意思像和一般公

I have dealt with recruiting consultants before whose main responsibility is
to find candidates for openings and bridge the communication between the
candidates and the company. They are a third company that is contracted or
commissioned to do the recruiting. With this kind of setup, you don't deal
with the company's HR directly but only with the recruiting consultant.

reputation.
The most expensive consultant I met was $500-600 an hour. This person built
an entire devision in FDA (an MD) and was the head for that devision for
many years before "retired". For companies working in submitting IND into
that devision, this price is acceptable.
Other than persons with this kind of credential, technical consulting is not
that lucrative, especially if you had not cultivated influence. |

的博士毕业论文需要用到很多统计分析,她prefer我先用软件把结果run出来,再对照结
果解释原理并且教她怎么interpret,她自己也想学一点简单的软件使用方法(比如很基
本的stata).
我刚拿到数据以及她的分析计划,看了一下,大概我自己需要5小时的时间编程搞结果,然
后需要10-15小时跟她详细讲解.(每周2-3小时)
第一次做这个,不知道怎么charge比较合适?
我们这里的基本情况是,跟本科生tutor的话收费是40美元每小时;
这种consulting的case该怎么算呢?按小时还是按整个project算?

from them?
2. before you speak to consult, the intern should have gathered all
important data about this pt. you may not have all the answers for the
consultant's question, thats fine as long as you know main story of the pt
and routine numbers, like Tmax, WBc, Cr etc. |
