一种case是公司不愿意雇full time employee，非关键性，非长期职位，找个
consultant来做，其实就相当于临时工，现在经济不景气，可能compensation是在下降。
一种是high end的consulting，比如那活没几个人能搞定的，只有你有那金刚钻能揽瓷
器活。
说白了，rate其实就是买卖双方bargain结果，对于consultant来说，就是看自身的
skill以及和自己竞争的competitor的skill，是吧。 |

开始说了一些很不professional的话，我是从NYC刚转来的，以前做的和现在做的有些

发帖数: 579 | 11 加班一定的，出差要看你的客户在哪,以前某一P，在西班牙找了一个大客户，我就再也
没见过他手下的那几个兵，据说出差是按年算的，给当地的安家费，2-3年基本就待那
了，后来莫兵在西班牙解决了个人问题。
还有一老兵（Sr Mgr）,以前每次我和他出差的时候，就听他不停的吹嘘他年轻时，因
工作的关系在世界各地的生活经历。不过人生就是经历，挺好的。
好像consulting的起薪是最高的，starting salary一般都比别的部门的的senior高，
因为它们招很多mba.但是感觉consulting不仅是对语言的要求高，而是对个人魅力的展
示要求很高，要求丰富的人生经历和经验，我和上面那老兵一起做过一个银行的项目（
不是我本行，正好没人，我去打打酱油），看见他和那些银行的CEO,CTO们口若悬河的
讨论些复杂金融技术问题，频频互动，颇有英雄见英雄的架势，俺晕里葫芦（我本人也
是金融硕士，在考 CFA的，所以基本金融原理还是明白的），佩服的五体投地，会后问
他那些比较难的技术细节，他告诉我其实他也不甚明白，他的金融知识仅来自20年前做

1. 那些estimation的题目在intermediate level基本没有了。有也是作为一个小
branch。这本书里强调很多。estimation的题目其实一点business sense都没有。现在
的都是real case 做interview。
2. 它的structure对于没有什么经验和想法的本科生来说，死记硬背还行，但是不但繁
复而且不是MECE (Mutually exclusive collectively exhaustive)。
用来入门还行，用来准备的话肯定不够的。 |

样才能更好的为两年后进入 MC 作准备。

发帖数: 195 | 22 国内医学院毕业，4年多一点完成PHD，现在刚开始做着POSTDOC，本来一心想着考BOARD
，做医生。但是一个偶然的机会，听了一下BCG的information session，觉得很动心。
申请了B2BCG，想先一探究竟。
觉得自己的性格很适合做consulting，口语还不错，喜欢和人沟通和交流，一做
presentation就很兴奋，喜欢到处travel。觉得自己脑子也不笨，至少不会比医学的
steps要难。当然缺点是没有什么商科的背景，对自己到底是什么水平，能不能在精英
如云的商界脱颖而出没啥概念。
记得我看Mckinsey的主页，介绍MD alumni的去向，发现一个问题就是，平均在
Mckinsey的工作时间，大概只有3年。BCG貌似也是每年都招人，感觉还都挺频繁。频繁
招人肯定也是和频繁的人员离职是相关的。
想请教下各位前辈，做consulting的职业规划是如何呢？如果以后离开consulting公司
，又能做什么呢？收入和福利如何呢？

consulting background is much more valued than ordinary industry experience.
Most of the Chinese R&D people here in the USA reach Principal Scientist
in big pharma (or equivalent in smaller companies), and have trouble going
to the director level. Consulting background people are much more likely to
reach the Director level. Just my 2 cents... |

对了，以前看过楼主的帖子，好像您现在做R&D,能一般意义上谈谈做consulting和
R&D的career path吗？ 我觉得做R&D换工作以及自身的market value 不如做
consulting，尽管后者累一些。

excel,ppt。Access 多年没碰了。
刚毕业，申请waste management consultancy，第一次面试时有问过会不会modeling和
用datasheet，我说我只做过很简单的模型调试，datasheet没问题（我想跟excel差不
多的）。
要第二次面试了，估计又会问类似的问题。不知道做 一般的环境consultant 会用到哪
些软件，好学吗？

个机会去一家Sell side top-ranked (top 5) research team做quant equity
research analyst position.现在有点难抉择了。。
我自己分析了下
Consulting manager: 职位高，大老板比较赏识，上升空间比较大。小地方，钱相对来
说不错。
research analyst: 一直想做quant analyst,以后往buy side portfolio management
转，这个sell side也有asset management 部门。当然老板明确说了由于我这块经验不
足要从junior作起。compensation未知，估计不会高于consulting manager.不知道
upside会不会更大。

者我觉得你可能脑子进水了，后者要看你是client facing role还是support role，如
果是client facing role的话转职业make sense
另外sellside ER和buyside investment的skill set其实差很多，一般人要么适合
sellside要么适合buyside，很少有都适合的 |

我以前在 healthcare consulting, 到哪儿都是唯一的中国人，工作技术不是主要的，
主要是
忽悠和 people skill, 比方客户经常让你干一些不能 make sense 的东西，按照他们
的方案不可能
Work, 需要很好的 people skill, 既要让客户高兴，又要让他们觉得你很
professional, 帮到了他们。
Consulting 基本上就是这样一个性质，很多时候要 white lie, 这个让我最痛苦，所
以决定去技术性的岗位。
拿到药厂 sas programmer 的工作，career path 其实还行，比方可以去热门的公司捞
钱。但是我觉得
工作本身比较无聊，不太需要跟人打交道，工作本身也很 routine. 就钱和工作机会
来讲还不错啦，但是我就是不太喜欢。
后来去了一个medical device company 做 biostatistician, 蛮喜欢的。比较 cross
functional, 可以到处去忽悠，忽悠的对象都是懂这个的专家，所以不像 health care

题，consultant应该在conference以后给intern回电话或者赶去见intern. Conference
is not the reason for denying the intern's phone call because the intern
does not know the consultant's schedule.
is a proper reason to call Consultant, especially when the intern is a new
intern. |

文字还称，“无论谁愿意出钱购买，将他们释放，或移交，可以根据以下电话进行
联系，”还有“时间有限”的字样。
