常ambitious,场面非常宏大，但是显然作者驾驭不了这么大的部头，写的其实很粗糙。

学者型的教授中必须写到林同济先生。林是闽人，个头比较矮小，长一颗标准的知识分
子“蛋头”（egghead）,春秋时节穿一件铁灰大衣，很有风度。我们入校之初，林尚未
划作右派，记得苏联第一颗人造卫星上天，林还在全系大会上朗诵他本人创作的十四行
诗以表祝贺。我曾特别注意林朗诵时口唇的伸缩张合，那动态确乎异于常人，一个个音
素从舌尖滚出，使人联想到莎士比亚“tripping on the tongue”的说法。不旋踵间，
反右的第二波（匪夷所思的是亦称反右“补课”）把林同济卷了进去，使他从外文系讲
台上消失了相当时日。
我大四那年，在政策转寰期间，林被甄别，摘帽，允许重上讲台。林本人尚未进入课堂
，各种轶闻已先他而至，不胫而走：北京某鸿儒曾盛赞林的parliamentary English（
议会式雄辩英语），又称中国之大真正精通英文的其实仅一个半人，鸿儒本人算一个，

早上送儿子上学，从家里拿了一把玩具枪。车上玩的时候把枪压成了两半儿。顺嘴说了
一句：姥爷白天有空帮忙修一修。
到学校，告诉儿子玩具枪不能带出去，就留在车里。我送儿子进教室，姥爷在外面等。
几分钟后，学校老师叫我，说警察来了。
就在我送儿子进学校的几分钟里，姥爷拿着玩具枪在校门外转悠（他打算自己走回家，
所以拿了枪打算回去修），有人打了911，来了两辆警车。
哎，这个倒还好，解释一下就没事了。让人郁闷的是，姥爷居然还不当回事，还打算拿
着玩具枪自己走回家。 |
