Clarifi及母公司Capital IQ基本上是纯的Java shop，但我投的是新开的Scala职位。
所以电话面试有两轮，第一轮问Haskell（我不懂Scala），第二轮问一道算法题，我后
来查了在这里，http://ostermiller.org/dilate_and_erode.html，面试官会一直问到你给出最优解，我最后没有完全答出来但很接近了。后来去onsite的时候，发现board上就是写的他们员工对这道题的讨论，说明是很喜欢考这道题的。
On site时发现很喜欢考brain teaser和Java，不是我喜欢的风格。我对Java也是一窍
不通，所以最后也没拿到offer。面试和其他公司稍有不同，让在纸上写程序而不是在
白板上写。
第一个人上来问了一些Java的基本概念和简单的程序题目，还打了些wikipedia的文章
出来，感觉比较搞笑，我基本上都答不出来。
第二个session居然有两个小时，直接拿了篇ICFP的paper出来考我的Haskell设计，我
吐血。

发帖数: 54 | 8 找工作一个半月，今天算是阶段性结束了。在这里潜水不少，收获也不小，今天也贡献
一下。
背景很一般，本科在国内念的计算机，这边二流(or三流？)学校硕士，IT管理。
目标是金融行业的tech职位，投了可能有四五十个相关职位，基本都是比较好的银行，
基金，金融软
件公司，外加一些保底的和tech consulting。当中可能不少都不sponsor visa的，另
外开始投
的有些晚，错过了8月底9月的第一波，后悔啊
面试不多，有5，6个，没有特别好的公司，也在意料之中。不过基本都进onsite，最后
有2个
offer。一个是big4的firm，一个是二流的银行。big4不太符合我的个性，应该会去银
行吧。
来了美国之后，整个思想和人生目标发生了巨大转变，因为各种原因，很多时候过的并
不如意。但是
我还是相信“天降大任于斯人，必先苦其心志，劳其筋骨，饿其体肤，空乏其身...”

首先是百度的结果：
《大般涅槃经·圣行品》：“譬如从牛出乳，从乳出酪，从酪出生稣，从生稣出熟稣，
从熟稣出醍醐。醍醐最上。”
但是光从字面上理解，酪，酥是什么也不好理解。于是找出涅磐经英文翻译：
a cow brings forth milk; the milk produces
cream, the cream produces fresh butter, the fresh butter produces clarified
butter, and the
clarified butter produces sarpirmanda. Sarpirmanda is the best.
对应关系就明显了：
酪 == cream
酥 == butter （西藏人吃的酥油就是黄油，可以作为应证）
(如果把酪理解成cheese就出问题了，因为往下就是aged cheese,
blue cheese乃至臭cheese, 不会出来液态的物质。）
但是这个sarpirmanda是什么？Google了一遍没找出来结果。

没有特别的新题,但是几个经验:
1) oo design 特别重要, 被问了几个题目, 每个都非常细,甚至到具体的表/数据结构
的设计: 哪些member, function?之间关系? 调用关系?对于每个常见用法的交互? if
some cases happen, how can it influence your design?
2) large scale problems. multiple server? how to reduce latency? how to save
space? when memory is not enough?....
clarify, clarify, clarify!今天犯错,写了半天,才发现requirement理解错了, 把简
单问题复杂化了, 估计为时已晚:( |
