发帖数: 65 | 3 还可以，和国内的不太一样。全是干洞，不需要坐船。本来想去Grand Ave. Cave
的，去太晚，没进成。:( 只去了比较经典的historic cave。告诫大家，如果想去比较
大一点的洞，例如Grand Ave Cave，4小时全程的，一定要在上午前到达，一天只开放2
次。另外例如比较刺激的wild cave, 需要护膝，头盔什么的，一定也要早去。
最后comment, 导游比较好玩，说话很幽默。价钱也不贵。最普通的洞$5，
Historic Cave $12, Grand Ave Cave $24, wild cave $48. 下回有机会一定去wild的

Well, this cave is not an easy one I shall say. Because of two reasons. 1)
it's long; 2) it's dangerous.
It's long, in terms of distance, it is about couple of miles, however, it is
a water cave, which means you have to go swimming all the way from the
beginning to the end. The whole cave is actually a underground river (19.94

Cave了。一直听说Mammoth Cave是非常无聊的一个国家公园，但我们都没去过国内的溶
洞，所以我们还是义无反顾地选择了这里。
准备篇：游Mammoth Cave必须跟着导游进洞，不能自己走。在旅行前最好多做些功课，
研究好自己感兴趣的地方，提前订好tour。订tour在NPS.gov网站上有链接。我在游玩前
3周，先订了一个专为8-12岁孩子安排的trog tour，这个tour 每天只有一个时段，最多
带12个孩子游玩。当时除了Adventure tour已经被订完，其余的tour 都有很多票，我一
偷懒就没仔细研究其他路线，只订了trog tour。不想，行程前两周，我打算订票的时候
，最感兴趣的几个tour已经全部被订光，没票了！惊得我出了一身冷汗，慌乱中发现了
两个我之前根本没留意的tour--historic 和 new entrance。匆匆一看，这两个tour走
的路线没有重合，每天都各自有很多时段可选人数也是超多的120。仅管觉得不至于没票

网上说 “the cave temperature stays at 40 F year-round. Lanterns are
available to rent at the cave entrance.”

other branch would take 20+ hours and
cave diving was expected). At least to me, 6 hours swimming was a quite good

Mammoth Cave景致一般，不算溶洞。是地下河冲出来的一个洞，钟乳石很少。基本上我
觉他它像一个大隧道。而且美国这里为了保护洞里面的环境，很少打灯光，不想中国的
溶洞里到处是彩灯。如果去过中国的那些著名的溶洞，Mammoth Cave就不必去了。 |

走到底也没啥特别的。可能在国内去过很多溶洞，相比之下，这个火山岩洞就很无趣了。
如果去的话，可以自己带灯或手电，就不用租了。一定要有照明设备，要不然不让进。 |

赶在午夜把blog简单记录一下虎年春节:
2/12.. 下午Steve过来捡起我和另外两个人C和S(我们在一栋楼我们居然从来没见过),
告别白雪皑皑的达拉斯来到 Colorado Bend State Park.到达的时候其它几个cavers正
在篝火边瞎扯. 猎人matt是那种可以不停的说24小时的家伙, 话题挺无聊的. 这里距理
奥斯丁大约一个半小时,虽说没有下雪, 但也是C零下. S同学居然是有240lbs, 可惜
没有睡垫的他估计会有一个长长的夜晚.....
2/13.. 上午先是帮park整理这个camping ground, 免费的劳力阿. 看上去caving 社
区的人很讲究对社区做贡献, 联合的也非常紧密, 不象climbing社区相对松散; 大概是
因为这个圈子的人不多, cave也不多的原因把.
下午我们被分成小组去作探索 (exploration), 也就是去钻那些还没有被爬过的洞,然
后作记录如果有必要的话(survey). 我因为身材比较苗条(汗...相对那些200lb |

盖和腰那么
深的泥还有冷水。trip leader说要准备有ankle protection的靴子还有羊毛袜手套还
有非棉的裤
子和衣服。我一样都没有，只有明天一天去购买，毫无头绪。
很少去户外，这是快毕业了，想参加学校的户外活动玩一下。没有想好将来是否会长期
玩这个。
请大家推荐几个物美价廉的牌子吧。准备明天下午去采购。

发帖数: 56 | 37 早上7点出发，目的地是georgia北部的petty john's cave。路上来回用掉大概6个小时
，晚上
11点45到家。算起来除去吃饭的两个小时，在洞里面呆了6个小时多一点。
该洞全程6.5迈，据wikipedia的资料，在全美200多个洞中间排119，不算长的。
装备是，knee pads, gloves, helmet, head light, two secondary lights, water
proof backpack (one for each 2person cave buddies)，水和午饭。
去的时候刚好开始下大雨，还没进去的时候，领队已经听人说水很深了，据说pan cake
可能被取
消。我当时还挺失望的。还好后来没有取消。
进去基本是水平的，有两段需要rope辅助上下的地方，但是有trip leaders和其他有经
验的人的
帮助，基本全都是有惊无险。不过对upper body的力量要求可能稍微高一点。不过如果
没有trip
leaders的话，很多地方在我看来是根本不可能走得通的路。

我们想玩caving，diving和white water rafting，不知道有没有好的tour推荐呢？我
们没有玩这些项目的装备，只能跟团，如果是multi－day tour更好，比如一个漂流漂
上他三五天，那就美了⋯⋯潜水呢，我们想上PADI的课，我要考advanced
open water diving。caving我们以前都没有玩过，但是网上看介绍好像波多黎各有很
丰富的洞穴资源，不去玩探洞可惜了。
顺便还有一个入门级问题：从美国本土打波多黎各，算国内还是国际电话呢？

National Park. 有老有小。 不过我们国内四川云南境内的大型溶洞都去过好些个，

发帖数: 8078 | 45 探洞篇：Mammoth Cave是世界上已知最庞大的洞穴体系，洞内岩壁千奇百怪，路线错综
复杂。游客必须参团跟着导游游览，能玩历的路线也非常有限。有个别tour据说能到地
下暗河，我们没订到票，很遗憾。
我们上午去了new entrance，导游小姐是个大美女，说话的声音清亮婉尔，听起来十分
享受。这条线发现得晚，地形变化大，整条路线有近500阶台阶。因为是分段而行，而
且最后段Frozen Niagara还可以选择不下到底部，这样只有约400阶台阶。感觉这条线
难度适中，趣味性也较强，适合带孩子走。
下午，大宝宝自己跟团走trog，他几乎是那天最小的一个孩子，却是唯一的一个男孩。
最初集合的时候，他有些害怕，对即将参加的这个探险队既期盼又担心。面对着一群黏
着妈妈的女孩子，又不好意思黏我，只是不停的唠叨，要和我们一起去Historic，不要
走这条线。全队整理好装备后，2名导游就带着他们出发了，一名导游在前引路，一名
在后压阵（全部路线都是这样的）。
送走了大宝，我带着小宝游Historic。相比起New Entrance，这条线平淡了很多，而且

这个Mammoth Cave说真的我完全是冲着让儿子参加Trog tour去的， 否则真可以忽略不
去了。
现在因为儿子要参加这个tour, 不得不拖着大家都去， 都到了， 不进这个Longest
cave好像也说不过去。
trog tour是2：00开始，长2小时45分钟， historic tour有个是2:45开始，长2小时，
我能不能把儿子drop off了， 再赶回来跟父母和老二一起参加2:45的tour, 然后这个
tour结束后正好接到儿子？我们不能分开啊， 我父母不懂英文， 都靠我。
