1. 有没有一个standard equipments 的估价单？还是一定要找salesperson要quotes？

上的pay now rate还挺不错的，应该比去店里便宜吧（有了解的人吗，给说说店里便宜
还是网上便宜？）
问题就是怎么在网上把这个rental certificate用了？
补充一下：一般是不是网上租车在check out的时候只是hold一个价钱，真正收取的费
用以还车时为准？那在还车的时候出示这个rental certificate他们一般会承认吧？在
网上看见一个review写的是还车时，那个budget的人认为certificate是coupon，不能
和网上的rate一起用。。。有人有这个经验吗？谢谢啦 |

If awarded, you may need to revise your budget. Then, you can
work on the details and even ask your department to give you some
kind of matching, such as half RA, to reduce the costs.
The key thing right now is you don't underestimate the number.
Of course, if you are asking for 700K or higher, that might be too
much.

update以后search committee的人写信说dean很快就联系我了，这是昨天五点的事情的。
今天早上12点，search committee的人和我说，找dean谈了，说临时budget cut,我的
那个position不available了。他还为昨天的事情道歉。
24小时不到，突然出现如此变故，难道我真的这么背，dean早上突然接到budget cut的
通知，就决定cut 我的这个position了（他们有好几个position)?
世上最惨的事情莫过如此，一天之中经历了大喜大悲，人生也算完整了。
我真的不甘心。

发帖数: 620 | 45 原来的系主任升迁，然后大家从内部推荐了一位新主任。最近写了个proposal，新主任要求我在budget中列上 35% 的overhead。（系里大概可以分到其中的25-50%。）还说她自己和系秘为我们的proposal付出了很多时间与精力。几个月前她刚上任时签的另一个proposal却只要了10%。那个项目出自同一个funding agency（非NSF），但是PI和她私交很好。
更可气的是她骗我说学校和那个agency（在我校有remote office）有协议，所有proposal必须交35%。跟她要协议，她拿不出来，最后只找到两份以前批准项目的合同。这两份合同的overhead分别为0%和10%。现在我该怎么办？交了35%，这项目没法做。不交，她不签字。
如果据理力争跟她闹翻的话，会不会影响半年后的tenure评审。上次跟Dean面谈tenure时（新主任也在场），Dean说我基本已经符合条件了。对了，我在teaching学校，Overhead一向比较低。这个proposal学校都已经同意 0% overhead了，结果系主任要求35%。

我跟她私下谈过，可以10%或者把supplier那块转到系里，她坚持要35%。关键是：1）
她撒谎，事实上从来没有关于35% 的任何协议；2）别的项目最多只收10%。我跟学校负
责项目budget的人谈过，对方同意0-10%，也认为35%不可能。
我在小学校，课时非常重，系里经费不靠external funding。现在这个项目只是个
Subcontract，对方的budget是固定的。如果交了35% overhead，实际用于项目的经费
只剩 65% 了。那样的话项目无法保质保量完成了。如果是NSF proposal，不管
overhead多少不影响direct cost。 |

overhead.budget的做法和NSF的是差不多的.不过可以和学校negotiate一个不同的
indirect cost rate.
学费要不要算进budget,完全取决于你是不是打算支付学生的学费(当然一般情况下都是
支付的).
学费是没有overhead的(至少我们这里是这样的).其它的direct cost基本上都有
overhead. |
