提要
與佛教同屬於新興宗教思潮的沙門陣營的耆那教，不僅是佛教初興當時的主要競爭對手
之一，同樣也為佛教傳統建構中的宗教制度發展等帶來刺激與滋養。雖然彼此教義有差
異，但是由於雙方實際興起與發展的時代重疊，宗教術語亦甚為接近，在宗教文化共構
處甚多的情形下，學界戲稱兩者為「姊妹教」。礙於彼此宗教競爭，佛教看待耆那教的
態度與耆那教理解自身宗教傳統的心態不同，從而「佛教聖典中的耆那教」與「耆那教
聖典中的耆那教」之間的兩種形象存有差異。若是如此，初期佛教聖典所見的宗教競爭
暨隨之引發的詮釋效應等諸問題，值得注意。

米高的石刻发呆，这两座石刻，前看非人非兽，侧看非仙非魔，老人若有所思地走来走

6世纪某时期的东亚石刻，和宗教有关，其他一概不知。从照片和他购入的两尊雕刻的

在《常新佛教》（Living Buddhism）一书中，指出是目前西方发展最快的宗教。洋人
信佛、学佛的原因主要是和西方传统信仰的衰微、佛教本身的优点、喇嘛僧的到来、信
息流通的频繁等因素有关。

佛陀的一切教说中，「四谛说」是至为核心的教义。在统贯佛陀教说的佛教典籍——阿
毗达磨中，深通经义的祖师们如何疏解四谛，是非常值得研究的主题。本文选定巴利论
书《分别论》（Vibhaṅga）的第四品〈谛分别〉（Saccavibhaṅga）为译
注主体，主要基于两点理由∶一、南传论书的研究在国内仍处于摇篮阶段，有待研究者
的投入。二、《分别论》依十八个主题来论究法义，每个主题可独立探讨，四谛即为其
中的一个主题。目前国内虽已有《分别论》的汉译，唯系转译自日文《南传大藏经》，
文辞艰涩，又少附注说明，不对照巴利原本则难理解，有重加翻译的必要。因篇幅的限
制，本文的译注仅包括〈谛分别〉中的「经分别」。
初期佛教的圣典，包括了经（sutta）、律（vinaya）、论（abhidhamma）三藏。经藏
集结佛陀教说的要义，不同部派各有其编纂的经藏，现存且完整者有南传上座部（
Theravāda）五部《尼柯耶》（Nikāya）及北传汉译的四部《阿含经》。律

disciples have been found. King Asoka, 100 years after the Buddha, has left
many Buddhist artifacts and they have been discovered. The ruins of 8 major

萨啊，真的可以救人脱离苦海，甚至觉得自己很有悟性，可以修行成未来佛，未来菩萨。
来美国后去寺庙，大家就念经啊，打坐啊。然后动不动隔三差五要搞法会拉，要捐钱拉
，好像捐点钱就可以，超度过世的亲人，还可以保平安拉。我就在想，这个钱怎么还能
用到阴间去？钱的法力比佛菩萨还大？
那时侯拜菩萨，拜佛，觉得很亲切，都是小的时候电视上看到的，长得根我们差不多，
挺好。如来佛我知道他的来历，可是观音啊，药王啊，乱七八糟别的菩萨就不太清楚了
，好像每个菩萨管的东西还不一样，分工很明确。
直到有一天跑道某高曾开的什么万佛城。哇，那个高僧为自己铸了一个铜像，比如来的
还大，让一群小尼姑绕着他念经。这是什么人啊？忽然，觉得巨震撼，什么人，这么狂
妄。
然后又有一天，跑到某个真禅宗的庙，一个人居然自称是什么莲花活佛，50多岁就成佛

我来说说。
1. 首先，我对佛教没了解。
因为佛祖没有留下书面文字，
不光如此，连同年代的烙印弟子
敌人学者都没有留下书面文字, 没有
任何佐证，peer review。 所以
佛教所有的早期经典都是口述。 口传最大
的问题就是死无对证，夸大，遗漏，故意
非故意误传谬传。 有1/10是真的，已经很了不起了。
道家道教都是源于道德经。 而道德经
也是老子（本身是史学大牛），根据周朝几百年
积累的皇家传书，甚至集商朝几百年的
历史经验之大成。当时还有很多同时代
的学者分布着周朝首都和各个诸侯国，
所以道德经是经过Peer review的。
2. 道家书传早于佛教书传。
