brick siding也许siding 本身更持久一点。

What is the difference between mortar and thin set? Good question. Depends
on who you are talking to and in what part of the country.
Technically thin set is a type of mortar.
So all thin set is mortar, but not all mortar is thin set.
Thin set uses finer sand as the aggregate. Designed to use in relatively
thin layers (thin mortar beds) hence the name thin set.

发帖数: 223 | 13 冬天是一楼屋里fireplace 的墙上的漆起皮了， 打开fireplace 一看， 里面是湿的
， fireplace 里砖墙上也是湿的， 还有点水往下滴。找了个contractor花了350 把
flash seal 了一下， 把chimney crown 也修了。 但是上个星期下大雨时发现问题还
在。 call contractor back， 他check 了一下flash seal 和crown repair， 他说那
儿是好的。自己到attic上 check 了一下roof 没发现问题 。
所以他现在怀疑其它的两个原因：
1） 是brick 太porous， 所以一下大雨就soak 了好多water， 说spray water
repellent 就可以防止。 要价850. 其它两个contractor 要价在400. 但是打电话给
其中一个， 他不想接这活因为我把flash seal 和crown repair 给别人做了。 不知道
这个water repellent 真的那么有用吗？ 大家的chimney brick 不都是露天的吗？ 好

vinyl, 真正四周都是砖的比较贵 |

it is old, but not that old. as I said, my front wall is full brick (with
stones), not veneer. My coat closet and some kitchen closet are noticeable
cooler under extremely cold weather. other sections along the front wall are
normal. with a thermal camera scan, energy auditor told me I do have
insulation behind the dry wall. I suspect the closet space has only bricks. |

，起结构支撑作用的，现在的很多房子即使四面是砖，也很可能是最外面一层用的
brick veneer. 这种砖里面有几个大孔，基本是装饰作用的。一般正面是砖，其他三面
vinyl的房子，这一面全砖差不多要cost 1万左右，有custom的builder会在其他几面也
用砖，或者用到80%的砖,或者只是第一层，具体的要看买主的要求。但是一般来说砖和
vinyl的不好比，有的高级点的vinyl也不便宜。总体来说，同样的房子，用brick
veneer会贵点，但至于贵多少要跟同一个builder的同一款房来比才知道，不同的
builder的房子造价很不一样，内部材料也不一

lifetime does not mean you don't need to do anything. you still need to do
your regular maintenance. powerwash, fix broken pieces from storms, etc.
if your question was not about lifespan, but the least maintenance, full
brick is better than brick veneer, which is better than vinyl. wood siding
requires more work than others. |

roofer 做了两次flashing, 但是还是漏。烟囱周围还是那种滴水的漏。
所以roofer 让我“to find a brick mason to redo the mortar”

1. 名牌货， 价格足够高得吓人，让厂家可以用最好的材料
2. 窗玻璃足够厚，越便宜的窗户玻璃越薄成本低，玻璃厚了不会产生共振自然隔音
3. 窗框材料足够厚，不是单薄的次品货，窗框里面是注了膨胀海绵的，拿一块
SAMPLE看窗框里面都是膨胀海绵泡沫，不是空心窗框，所以才会隔音，这个额外工艺会
花很多人工成本，只有极少品牌会注入膨胀泡沫
4. 安装BRICK TO BRICK，没有木头窗框在中间，否则会漏音
5. 类型：手摇柄摇窗，非推拉窗SLIDING WINDOW
6. 三层窗玻璃，中间加層阻止共振的胶玻璃，但可能会因此减少透光度
符合以上条件的窗户隔音效果超乎想象。
7. 再加一条，如果是FIXED WINDOW，只透光不打开的，隔音效果几乎百分百。

去年的Black Friday收获不错，基本以最低的价格买了利用率很高玩具。最满意的

自己，比如先报告家长，老师，另外回击别人的时候，如果不是也偷袭，最好有别的朋

Lego公司其实有好几种大小不同的Lego积木。
经典的是(小的) Lego (也可以说classic Lego)
大一点的(给小孩的) 叫Duplo或者Lego Duplo
还有更大的 Lego Primo, Lego baby但是卖得很少。
Lego上都有些适合多大儿童的(4-99)表示适合4岁到99岁的儿童。
和其他玩具一样。这个推荐年龄比较保守一点。
但是大概可以知道不同set的难度。
Duplo块大，小小孩(2-5)拿起来很顺手,而且不会吞服，
所以是阶段的很好过渡，但是相对比较简单，缺少变化。
年纪大了，很少会再玩。
Lego其实也有不同的阶段，开始往往是用那种brick tube开始。
就是主要是一些bricks加上少量一些片(plates)还有一些窗户/轮子
这样可以是很好的入门。

are very good. k'nex only has a limited set of basic component, which is
easier to be mastered by a 4 year old. also you can use k'nex to easily
build large constructions that are very satisfying. lego is more into
details, which will need a lot special peices. you will know what i mean.
this is what my plan is for my boys
1. lego primo/quatro,
2. lego duplo,
3. k'nex,
4. lego, regular blocks,
5. lego creator
