其中有一段写到linus pauling(research into the nature of chemical bond and
got noble prize in chemistry in 1954)
在和Sir William Bragg(who invented x-ray crystallography
and got nobel prize in physics in 1915)
的竞争中首先发现protein alpha helix的结构，就因为一点区别，
pauling是搞化学出身，知道peptide bond类似double bond，所以结构上比较rigid
C-N和C-O,N-H在一个平面上，而bragg不知道，bragg搞这个project很长时间，
至少好几年吧，先发了一片错误的paper
(这片paper然后bragg多年之后回忆的时候还非常羞愧)
然后pauling发了正确的paper.
作者是这样描述william bragg看到pauling发的paper之后的小故事

迈，反正也没有车流，正好可以借机活动活动双脚。开着开着，第二个巡警又出现了。

我昨天下完班，去亚洲人的超市买完菜，接完小朋友回家，洗完菜烧完饭，安慰完小觉
刚醒来的小朋友（在幼儿园里从高处摔下来了），帮助小朋友吃完饭，清洗完鸭贞肝（
挖掉那些白色的脂肪），清洗卤完牛肉，清理完碗筷锅瓢，开完洗碗机。
老婆检查完洗完的碗筷，没有问题。结果回头看到我洗完的大锅放在水槽里，没有塞到
底下柜子里，就生气地责问为什么。我回答就放一会儿等水干（其实我喜欢放灶台上，
这样要用的时候不用蹲下去把锅子挖出来）。老婆就更不满意了，气呼呼说“什么事都
不好好干，要我收尾”。
类似的事常发生，我觉得她这样的不快乐真地不是我的错。大家能不能指点几句。

，一个服役
35年退休，一个服役20多年，刚从阿富汗回来。两个人带了15、6把枪来课堂，还有各
种各样的
Holster。20个学生报名，只来了7个，一个我，两个高中教师，4个军人，军龄全部10
年以上。。。
靶场在Fort Bragg军事基地里面，还要过岗哨，check ID，听那些军人说，自从Texas
那起枪击案
后，各地军事基地对枪支管理都非常严格了。。。
老师一再强调三句话：1, I quit. 2, I was scared to death. 3, I won't say
anything until I talk to my lawyer. 还强调不拔枪就罢了，只要拔枪，就尽量put
some
bullets on his chest...
在靶场，从1码开始打，然后3码，然后5码，然后7码半，一共打了50发，不但要双手射
击，还有单手射
击，单手又分别练了strong hand & weak hand. |

三名来自湾区采鲍客在周末前后接连于北湾不同海域遇溺毙命，其中两名死者为华
裔男子，50岁的香港移民Henry Choy（音译：蔡亨利）及36岁的Kenneth Liu(音译：刘
肯尼)。三宗遇溺案为自4月采鲍鱼季节开始以来，首次于该区域发生的伤亡意外，亦是
自2007年24小时内发生最频繁的连环遇溺案件。蔡姓男子的亲属指，蔡亨利富有二十多
年的潜水采鲍鱼经验，所以家人对于意外都感到十分突然。

天朝的教育是不是有点太强调深度了?
读完四书五经才能做官,

算符的具体形式，绝大多数物理本科生都能写出来，更别说理论物理phd了。你要说理
论物理phd大部分写不出bragg equation，我还是相信的。 |
