老黑人口3870万,老墨人口5050万,他们的物理化学医学得主呢?怎么一个都没找到?
他们的人口可是华人和犹太人的好几倍啊。
另外,华人是1943年废除排华法案以后才来到美国的,比犹太人晚了半个多世纪,因为
肤色跟白人差距较大,奋斗业更难。

p*****m 发帖数: 7030 | 18 生物里phd直接faculty的多是肯定不多的。。。做chem bio的颇有一些,不过那些主要
是chem PhD (Sheng Ding, David Liu, etc)。如果只算纯bio的PhD,袁钧瑛算很成
功的例子吧;Peter Walter算另一个很成功的例子吧。然后不著名的例子也不少了其实
,比如Blobel实验室和Peter同时期的很多人都直接AP了,不过那些人总体混得都一般
就是了。别人肯定能给出更多的例子来。
然后还颇有一些人PhD毕业就拿到AP了但是放弃不去,要做个postdoc学习一下新东西。
我老板其实就是这样。然后我至少认识两个朋友是这样。名字就不说了。
另外生物phd出来做independent fellow的还是挺多阿。这样虽然不是AP,但是已经独立
了。这样的成功例子就更多了,Steve Mcknight, Philip Beachy, David Page, David
Bartel,David Sabatini... |

以前还有还有至少两个例子,都是Steinmen的postdoc成了RAP,之后都在Rockefeller有
了自己独立的实验室。一个是C. Munz,现在回欧洲去做了一个director,还有个印度
人,名字忘了,现在在yale也是做director。

国内BSc,英国(非牛剑)3年PhD,毕业时仅一篇MCB,去过一次EMBL transcription and
chromatin conference做poster,除此之外啥都没有,非常平庸。
老板背景:
偶有N和S,经常Mol. Cell和EMBO。在自己的老本行是大牛,但是大概6、7年前对两个
新课题产生了兴趣(我的project属于新开始的之一)。综合算个中牛吧。
