annual maintenence cost is really just a pair of tires really.
it's unfair not to amortize the cost of a car. at least you need to do that
in proportion of your commute mileage vs overall mileage, which I'm sure
will be more expensive than a bike. |

used to own a steel single speed bike for commute only. But since then my
commute route is much longer and hillier. Single speed/fixie can not do the
job anymore. |

and turns. Basically, you don't want to ride a TT bike where there is
traffic, peds, stop lights, and potholes, or you'll easily get yourself or
others hurt. |

gets shitty at Winnetka.
So I normally ride along Greenbay Road. There is also a Greenbay bike path
along the main road. But I prefer the main road. Then Greenbay gets shitty
at Highland Park. So if you want to continue riding north, go either on
Skokie Valley bike path (very boring because you see only power lines) or
bear the shittiness.
The forest preserve is pretty nice. Very good pave path and scenic. |

2000+mile的话，之前几个月就要准备了。争取每周末骑两个back to back的long ride
。有个磨合，这样有什么车坏了的情况也能修。还是一项挺艰巨的任务。加油！ |

昨天看到老美wsn都直臂drop bar骑，也试了一下，挺管用的。腰也不累了，好象大腿
也不容易疲劳了。同时后背也直挺／flat了，估计视觉上看也好看一些。另外感觉身体
的重量也稍微前移到直臂上，腰和下肢的配重也减轻了。
我一直以为drop bar弯肘骑，结果不一会儿腰／腿就酸了。
大家还有什么经验教育教育我这个road bike盲 |

fuji (roubaix 3.0) trek什么的entry level的road bike可能在600到700多之间吧。
如果只是上下班骑30min，估计区别的不大，hybrid反而可能更合适。更好的牌子可能
贵$200－300，相同的components，不过frame可能更好了。如果还打算多骑骑的话，还
是选个好牌子的。local store好像都是按msrp卖，可以问问有没有打折的车型，rei的
价格比local store稍微便宜些，carry的牌子也有很不错的，比如cannondale。
performance bike好像没有很好的牌子
装备之后可以慢慢买，弄个头盔基本就可以骑了，一段时间之后就知道需要什么了，（
短裤，手套。。。）
备胎什么的好像暂时不需要，但是打气筒最好别买太便宜的，我的打气筒总容易把
presta的气嘴弄坏，2个车胎都是这么坏的，后来买个了lezyne的发现很好用 |

你一个新手，是不是真正喜欢，能坚持多久都不知道，水平也比较低，好车坏车在你手
里根本没区别，没有必要一上来就买road bike追求速度，推荐在CL上买个二手
mountain bike，或者hybrid。
1。MTB一般比较便宜，不管是以后真喜欢了换车，还是不喜欢了闲置都不心疼。
2。外胎厚，不容易爆胎，少麻烦。
3。坐垫稍微舒服一点，打气的时候不需要打那么高的psi，也略微舒服一点。
4。结实，承重大，随便摔，随便折腾。
至于装备，只有头盔，打气筒是必要的，如果晚上骑，前灯后灯当然也很重要，其他都
可以一边骑一边添置，没有必要事先准备好。打气筒能打足psi的就行了，这个要注意
，差的打气筒往往打不足，psi一高气嘴就崩飞掉了。
等你开始觉得骑不够，上下班的路上要想办法绕路多骑一点的时候，再换个好车。
不管你买啥车，都要保养，保养得好的车骑起来才舒服，再好的车扔在边上一年，啥部
件也都锈了。 |

Actually, I was not entirely happy with the paint pattern on Trek 1.5. Went
to another bike store. Now I'm hooked on Giant Defy 1 vs. Felt Z85. Both
with 105!!!! Same price $1080 ($1350 with 20% discount. sorry, Nietschean,
move to San Diego to buy your bike). Unfortunately, Defy 1 I test-rode was
one size too big. Felt was good, but want to test the Defy 1 with correct
size before deciding.

Local 推荐 CAAD10 5, 不过frame 不是碳纤，但是以后的service肯定用得上
Performance 的Altamira 3 LE看起来不错， 全碳纤， 可是纽约附近没有Performance
的店。。

少也有的。所以上下公交可能不是特别方便。一般在火车或者地铁里见的比较多。因为
很多地方在peak hour是不给带full size bike的。 |
