傅苹自传造假一事，对美国社会来说，有没有新闻价值呢？当然有。傅苹并不是普通
的美籍华人，而是美国公众人物。她是奥巴马政府商业部下一个国家咨询委员的委员，
算是“奥巴马智囊”，去年刚被国土安全部移民局授予“杰出归化美国人”称号，其新
书上了《纽约时报》畅销书榜单，所有这一切，都与其中美两重天的“人生传奇”分不
开。现在其在中国的“人生传奇”被众多华人指出是捏造、虚构的，该公众人物的诚信
遭到质疑，不值得报道出来让美国公众知道吗？
但是我给十来个曾经采访过我的美国记者写信让他们关注一下此事，只有一个回复
说会留意一下。他们未必觉得此事没有新闻价值，很可能是觉得报道它属于政治“不正
确”，有替中国说话之嫌——设想一下，如果是一本美化中国的畅销书被发现充斥谎言
，美国媒体恐怕早就一哄而上了。倒是有欧洲和澳洲的媒体主动来联系我要做有关报道
。英国两家主要报纸《卫报》和《每日电讯报》已较为中立地报道此事。

寸的bass和比较大的pike。Big bend是一个比较有趣的地方。说他有趣是一个地方那个
有三种水环境。一个环境是湖(典型的鱼是bass），一个环境是一条不太大的河的末端
（典型的鱼是cat fish），一个环境是水流较快（多雨的时候）Desplain River（典型
的鱼是Pike）。我也去fox river钓过，但是钓到的都是体型整齐划一的大个的

这家老板娘（老太太）是台湾人，所以菜式是台湾菜，台式川菜和广东菜。
老太太很人情，看到我是中国人就主动上来攀谈，介绍菜单上没有的中国菜。比如梅菜
扣肉，五更肠旺，中式炒蔬菜等。
我点了梅菜扣肉（1，没几家中餐馆做这个菜，2，被人推荐了，说不错），还点了个炒
白菜。炒白菜先来，是用干虾仁加姜片炒的大白菜，吃起来很清爽，很下饭。梅菜扣肉
蒸得很好，选用的肉肥瘦适中，而且切的是比较厚的片，所以口感很好。一份梅菜扣肉
，大概10来片厚肉，买$14.95，很不错。
准备明天再去一次，吃吃其它菜。 |

down in smaller steps. I had the same problem. I had sharp pain just above
the left knee cap when I bend the left knee. To cope with it, I use the
left leg to step down a rock first and lift the right leg (hence bending
the right knee) to come off the rock, all done with the help of hiking

德州，Texas, 被称为the lone star state, 是美国国土面积第二大的州，用德州人自
己的话说texas is a country within a country. 在过去的500多年的时间里，这片土
地曾经是法国，西班牙以及墨西哥的殖民地，而在经历了一系列的战争，独立和投票以

发帖数: 1246 | 35 第三天，计划去crater lake，早晨7点多起床，出了旅馆走了一段才找到吃早饭的地方
，路上有山有水，禁不住驻足停留了几次，还去了diamond lake，所以到crater lake
时已经中午了。看到了雪，听到很多人说晚上很冷，于是放弃当晚在park camping的计
划，准备到bend投宿。临走老婆还要下到湖面看看，导致我们一通狂奔。Crater lake
确实很赞，我们只能说是留下了匆匆的身影，根本没有时间细细品味。旅行就是这样，
计划赶不上变化，路上有值得可看的东西时，即使不在计划之中也是停留以下比较好，
省得落下遗憾。
第四天的计划是从bend到the dalles，顺路看三姐妹山。感觉应该比较轻松，结果bend
的downtown又让我们消磨了整整一个早上，有些小店很有意思，吃到了很好吃的crepe
，那个crepe店的装饰很有中东的情调。路上还经过了大片的麦田，本该驻足下来照几
张像的。这一天还不算紧，晚上坐在满地花生皮的酒馆里享用一杯啤酒，突然有一种恍
若隔世回到国内的感觉。

标 题: 继续灌水：德克萨斯的自然景色和历史遗迹（上）

我在德克萨斯生活过八年（休斯敦六年、奥斯汀两年），相当于抗日战争的长度。因为
我经常一个人开车到处跑，去过的地方应该不算少：从最难端的South Padre Island到
最北面的Amarillo ，从东面的墨西哥湾沿岸到西部的Big Bend，到处都留下过我的足
迹（或是车胎印）。
平心而论，跟东、西两个海岸相比，德州的自然风光相对逊色。其实这样说也不全对，
德克萨斯西部也有两个国家公园，Big Bend和 Guadalupe Mountains ，尤其Big Bend
，地貌和生态环境都很多样化（下详），跟其它任何一个州相比都不能算是拿不出手。
但是德州这么大，人口集中的大城市又都离西部很远，于是就显得自然环境单调了。
但是德州要玩的地方还是有，会玩不会玩主要还是要靠你的attitude。如果象前几天本
坛出现的一位神人那样跑到大雾山， |

例如dallas，小布什住的区和willow bend哪个好？小布什的区米房很多，靠近市中心
，但是学区很烂，小孩都上私立的。
willow bend 7，80万的就很豪了，学区很好，环境很好。这样比下来，应该还是小布
什的preston hollow比willow bend强，但是preston hollow 不如university park应
该比较明显

个好学校,感觉FORT BEND, SPRING BRANCH, KATY这几个貌似不错,想在这些地方找房
子安顿.

1. 我买的是新房， 收到的税表是按照房屋实际价值，不是地的价值， 正常吗？
这也是挺正常。 最后税表上对房屋的评估是跟据你何时CLOSE有关的。 一般来讲如果
你CLOSE在4月之间，这也是大多数COUNTY做APPRAISAL 的时间， 那你的APPRAISAL价格
就会是房子真正的价格， 反之就会是地的价格。 当然，这个不是唯一和绝对的标准。
每个COUNTY的规定是不一样的。
2. 我的税单上的价钱和我CLOSING时候PRORATE的价钱不一致， 我可以向SELLER要差额
吗？

离屯子最近的national park 是10小时以为的Big BEND. 附近好玩的 State Park 有
brazo bend, 看鳄鱼，sam houston state park, 不知道看啥，反正就是到处走在走，
散散心。都可以camp.

很多我的客人都会想在Sugar Land 买房子， 因为安全， 交通便利， 校区好， 买菜
也方便 ， 六号上几乎什么商店都有了。大多数年轻一点的夫妇或者是小家庭都喜欢比
较新点（比如2005年以后建）的房子，这样不太会花时间来维修房子， 而且也相对的
省电节能。
基本最后大家都会去看和比较Telfair 和 Riverstone 这个两个mater planned
community. Riverstone 今年的平均销售价格是大约100-103 块一尺， 而 Telfair
是大约 130块一尺。 两个区的地税都是在 3。2% 左右 (新区地税都比较的高）， 这
两个区的房子都有从20几万到几百万的房子， 分布按片划分， 整体绿化规划的都很好
。
地理位置来说， Telfair 靠近59，6，90，99 号告诉公路， 而且它的公立校区比

女儿长大了，咱也未能免俗， 也要跳钢琴这个坑了。 也不求吃音乐饭，
只要能学会，能喜欢就好了。周末去看了两个店，一个是Maggie的Houston Piano
Company，
一个是FOrt Bend Music Center. Fort Bend MC 给我们团购假5800， Kawai K3。
Maggie 的珠江EU122还是上次团购价， 3800。 两个报价均是税后， 包括两次调琴，
一个琴凳，和 运费。
Fort Bend 的老黑兄弟告诉我们马上可以加入团购， Maggie这里没有，要我做新团购
的召集。要是为了省事省时间，我也就进了Kawai。 可是实在是不想买这么个日本大件
。 钓鱼岛上风云急啊。 咱现在有这银子也犯不上资敌对不对。（俺也看到了另外一个
Kawai团购帖，no offence啊）。
现在的价钱是3800， Maggie说到了二三月份可能会调价。 这年头，调价只能望高了调
，对吧。
