关于他的问题，哪怕我们从“legal hunt”的立足点出发，他这里一个很大的争议在于
他们貌似是把狮子引诱出了保护区
这狮子一般只在保护区内活动，在保护区内猎杀是illegal的
从这点上说，是否是legal hunt还是一大问题，哪怕最终法庭裁决依然legal，也至少
是钻了空子，捅了篓子被大家“猎杀”也算是活该了

From his own statement, he admitted realizing he killed a protected animal
at the end of the hunt, at least. He then posed with his trophy for picture
in all smile and ran back to US. The lion ended up being beheaded and
skinned. It wouldn't be so difficult for a half decent lawyer to dig up
enough circumstantial evidence to prove that he knew more.
Did he report his act to any of the authority before the statement you
posted? I guess not.
