While my little son pitched a shutout 2 1/3 innings to secure a next game in
his little league play off, my big son's team had an uncharacteristic day
in the Majors playoff. Their ace pitcher surrendered 10 runs in 4 1/3 of
innings to lose the series opener.
What it means is when they both play again on Thursday, June 6th, they both
need to win to survive: a loss would mean elimination.

if a hit by pitch is induced by batter's swing, then this is not counted as
a hbp. There is a gray area though. If a batter checks his swing and gets
hit by a pitch, because it is not a strike, it is most likely called hbp.
but it is truly up to the umpire to decide whether the check swing motion

ERA就是earned run average
先说earned runs
投手给人上垒，一般两种情况，一种是投手自己责任，被打中，walk batters,还有很
多拉拉杂杂的小概率事件先不谈，这些都算投手的责任，另一种是防守失误，比如防守
的人球掉了，导致batter没out，这虽然也会导致对方得run，但责任主要不在投手
ear是评价衡量投手的最重要的数据之一，所以第二种情况要去掉，不光防守失误直接
导致的那些run要去掉，即使是当时暂时还没得run，只要是中途有过一个防守失误，从
那个失误导致上垒的那个batter算起，他和他以后的所有人在本局得到的runs全部都不
算作是投手的earned runs
于是投手某场比赛的earned runs就等于对方的总runs减去我刚才说的要减去的那些
unearned runs

这个面包之所以说它神奇有三个原因：
第一，做一个面包需要耗时10天；
第二，它的starter（类似于酵种）来自于一群叫做Amish people的人，有且只有Amish
people会做这个starter。而更神奇的，这个Amish people是一个极其富有传奇色彩的
族群——他们生活在美国和加拿大交界处，因为信奉复古、极端的基督教，崇尚自然的
赐予，他们拒绝用电、汽车以及一系列现代化科技，过着与世隔绝的生活。Amish人禁
止与外族通婚和买卖，禁止子女接受初中以上的教育，认为这些知识足以应付日常的生
活。在美国，尤其是upper michigan，人们说的土鸡蛋、土菜之类的，就是指由Amish
people用传统的农业生产方式而生产的农副产品。
第三，它叫做友谊面包，是因为一份starter通过10天的制作，会变成5份。除了自己留
一份做成最后的面包以外，另外的4份要连同instruction一起分给4个不同的朋友。然

也能让面膨胀起来
有人不是特别喜欢baking soda， baking powder 的味道
就像作蛋糕一样，为什么加鸡蛋呢？
因为鸡蛋让面dough or batter 膨胀起来
鸡蛋的效果就在于此
fat 尤其是butter 能让dough or batter 均匀
没有任何其它东西可以代替butter |

有简单的蛋糕配方，最好原料都能在costco 解决，最好简单，我真是懒妈。。。

这次filling我用的是raspberry和blueberry
放一点点黄油，锅里热一下，没放糖，放了一勺raspberry的果酱就，烂了就行了
