design a set of experiments to prove the idea, then shed light on the
obtained experimental data in the backdrop of your orignal idea.
If you simply happen to run the specific experiments for the important
finding, you might not qualify as the first author for the final publication
since you are simply a hired hand.
That said, in most cases, the BOSS has the final say to who should be the
first author(s). |
