Do you always carry an avalanche beacon in avalanche terrain, and is it
always turned on in avalanche terrain?
Almost always, but I've left it behind or forgotten to turn it on.
Always, at home I "put it on and turn it on" and it stays on all day.
I don't usually travel with a beacon.

但是 我们去backcountry 一般会最少 2个人一起 而且 会背上 特质的包 （abs
avalanche air 背过 很多次 但谢谢上帝 从来没有打开用过），walkie talkie，
surefire，食物（protein,energy bar 偶是 还会。。） heat pad oh 和 最重要的
shovel :)

Everest, a climbing company executive told CNN.
Gordon Janow with Alpine Ascents International in Seattle said the avalanche
took place just above base camp in the Khumbu Ice Fall.
Climbing season on the world's highest peak begins no earlier than May 15.
Climbers and guides had been setting the ropes for the route, acclimating to
the climate, and preparing the camps along the route, said Janow. |

前两天看了一些贴子，其中有许多有关车和车，日本品牌和美国品牌，欧洲品牌车的争
论和比较。发现其中许多对比和比较很盲目。很多不具有可比价性，比如说Car 和SUV
那个安全。发现很多人同我以前刚来U.S.时一样, 对车的认识大多都停留在表面上。
在选车对比之前，我想大家应该对不同的车有个大概的了解。这也是我写此文的目的。
希望对于刚来美国并准备选车的人，能有所启发和期到拓展视野的作用。首先声明，本
人未在任何和汽车有关的行业工作，仅出于个人爱好。有不完善之处，希望各位参与讨
论并给于补充。
初到北美时，除了对国内的夏利，桑塔那VW, Audi, Toyota，Cherokee等有点印象外（
当然还有BMW， BENZ等，不过没有机会尝试）。对其它种类的车毫无了解。和很多人一
样，别人讲那一种车好， 自己于是就认为它好；别人说那种车不好， 知己也认为它不
好。 后来才发现其实自己对北美的汽车行业和市场完全缺乏认知。第一天走在大街上

2001 - 7月本科毕业，8月到美国，第一学期全A,不过上课听懂一半不到。

2003 - 定下实验室。选简单课混日子。期间找了个老婆结婚。

2007 - 博士论文答辩，完毕之后立即在新公司上班，也是一行业前3的公司，起薪6位
数。5月博士正式毕业。

美国的问题对于国人来说, 就是我们是边缘人, 很多主流社会的机会无法参与, 所以绝
大部分同学挣德都是死工资, 没有活钱. 而生活费用美国一点都不低, 有多少人能
CLAIM他每月的睡后的钱能留下一大部分?
多年的美国留学, 让很多人形成了思维顶势,就是只有这几种钱比较拉风, 比较成功.
1. 公司开的高工资, W2上的钱, 其实这样的钱最傻, 在中国美国都狂交税.
2. 拉VC, 搞高科技创业, 研发, 成功上市, 圈钱...
3. 当律师, 医生等专业人士拿高工资.
4. 拼命读书, 更新知识, 拿几个学位, 考CFA, 转热门专业...
也难怪, 非主流民族, 加上身份, 社会关系的限制, 这些是绝对多数人的自然选择.

现在二人年收入超过1000万，还是美元。
其他人年收入超过100万人民币的小公司。
5年后大家聚首北京，囊中羞涩。
说句不中听的，要归也不能给人打工。自主创业，否则别归。

this morning. I am still waiting for the opening of the series
against Vancouver Canucks. I am still tuning my radio for Mike
Haynes "between the pipes-avalanche pregame show". I am still
looking for John Kelly and Peter MaNab in FOX Sports...
Yes, it's over. They will not be back until October. It will be the

in an unexpected fabulous way, with they claimed 9th consecutive division
title, Foppa wins the scoring title and Hejduk wins the goal scoring title.
I can't recall any regular season moment in Avalanche franchise history
better than this. However....
The Avs also made their earliest postseason exit since 1998, especially
being knocked out by an expansion team only in their 3rd season in NHL.

Edmonton，绝对不会了解这个城市曾经有一支王朝般的球队。北美体育权威统计中，
NHL的最近一个Dynasty就是1984-1990的Edmonton Oilers（7年5夺Stanley Cup）。当
然，我对之前的历史主要是通过wiki知道的。没有亲身经历，所以也无法讲述。但是我
亲身感受了Oilers在沉沦前的最后一丝辉煌，直到现在我都经常能回忆起来。
刚来这个城市的时候，恰好碰到一个暴喜欢冰球的邻居，此人自称老移民，据他本人讲
是84年就到这个冰天雪地的地方了，当时就赶上的Gretzky时代。长话短说，来了几天
之后Oilers从Blues换来了Chris Pronger，新闻上一播，邻居跟我聊天的时候就说今年
Oilers肯定发达了（后来我才就知道这人相当牛），然后就跟我说，一定得看冰球，跟
我说Oilers有了Pronger, 再加上Ryan Smith（其实他一直到06-07才入选过一次全明星

killed
several by an avalanche pitches up on a gully route recently in Cody. Mark
Jenkins was the belayer! He lived though. There has been horrendous snow,
strong wind and weird snow packs. The route was known to have minimal
avalanche

Yes, I did feel urged to say something for the first time, after reading the avalanche story. It's a pity that avalanche.org doesn't forecast southern sierra condition, yet people died at big bear last year thinking it was safe.
Obviously you have the potential to become legendary. But I don't feel comfortable to stand silent here while seeing alarming signs. Sunscreen is clearly a minor one. As for why I didn't post here before |
