业后当什么，我说先当assistant professor, 他说，哦，助教，我只好纠正说是助教
授。我还看到国内论坛里有人（也是大学里的人）说美国的助理教授一般没有资格独立
教课，大概他也理解成teaching assistant 了。好笑的事情多了。 |

assistant professor （RAP）的工资有多高？上面有大老板的RAP可能工资很大程度
上由老板说了算。但不少学校的研究中心有独立的RAP，基本上是soft money的位置，
如果能拿到9个月的钱，一般会比tenure-track assistant professor的多还是少？ |

时不时地熬夜忙活，那时候说是如果不这么忙就做不出好的RESEARCH，就没可能做教授
。不过，他偶尔还是能抽个几天陪我出去玩玩，可是，EMAIL是一分钟都不能不查的，
因为怕老板找他有事，连在夏威夷的时候，他都在CHECK EMAIL。现在，这位老人家终
于媳妇熬成婆，成了他梦寐以求的assistant professor，恩，还是tenure track的。
他也过35了，于是，我们要了第一个小孩。
麻烦来了，
首先，我们RELOCATE到了一个莫名其妙的地方，我不得不辞职在家了，成了全职妈妈。
再次，他更加忙了，每天早出晚归不说，晚上还得忙到2-3点。他几乎没空做任何家务
，这也就算了，我还有父母在这里帮忙。
第三，本来商量好，他周末看一天小孩，从7AM-7PM就行了，哪怕培养一下父子关系也
行，结果，看了两次，他就彻底没空了，因为现在是NSF PROPOSAL月了。他好像一直有
deadline,paper, review,proposal,没完没了。现在小孩几乎不认识他。

一个u of michigan 的 research assistant professor
一个oregon state university 的tenure track assistant professor.
现在不想去oregon state 了，因为那个系里面真没什么人。我这点水平去
哪里也不会有什么发展。
所以现在考虑是u of michigan的 research assistant professor
还是harvard postdoc |

就可以申请tenure。
2、另外还有一个小的学校（只有本科生的），他们说他们Tenure track制度10年取消
了，不过虽然没有tenure制度，但是一般教授职位都是secured。而且三年后就可以申
请associate professor。请问这种没有tenure制度的学校利弊是什么？这种是不是以
后就是想跳槽到有tenure-track的地方即便你已经是associate professor你也要从头
来过？

我是J2的身份，老公在哈佛交流学习，目前EAD申请已经在核实阶段，应该要不了
多久就能下来了。
在国内，我是一名幼儿园老师，有3年的工作经验，具有教师资格证，普通话等级
证书，自己也非常喜欢小朋友，得到了孩子们与家长的一致好评。由于老公要出来学习
，新婚没多久，两人不舍分开那么久，就一起过来了，现在先想从assistant teacher
开始慢慢适应这里daycare的日常活动程序，上次去了哈佛附属的幼儿园问了情况，很
可惜在一个多月前刚新招了一部分老师，现在没有空缺的名额，所以想上来发个帖，请
求大家的帮助，看看身边是否有幼儿园在招人，帮忙推荐一下或者告诉我一声，万分感

有朋友曾说学前教育貌似薪资不高，assistant teacher可能就只有10美金pre
hour，但我觉得没有关系，初来乍到的，能在这里找到一份自己热爱的工作就已经很受

2.Is anyone in your household working, including self-employment?
对于第一个问题， 是否需要填写我负担父亲在此的短暂停留还是写他自己有工资（在
国内？）
对于第二个问题，我不是很清楚household是指什么？由于父亲是短暂探亲，所以这个
household是指我和父亲还是父亲和母亲在国内？（由于是申请本州的medical
assistance并且要求填写我的住址，所以是不是指我和父亲的household?) 因为我现在

最近要开始485了，但是之前本人在自己学校所属医院有过一次financial assistance
，当时看病好，随口问了一下学校的医院有没有资助之类的，当时他们告知只要在这里
呆过半年以上符合条件就可以申请。然后我就申请了。结果也通过了。
这个记得好像是cover了一年左右，也就是看病完医药费先有保险公司付，最后剩下的
有医院付，自己也就不用花费了。之后就再也没有了。
现在485上面有个问题，我该如何回答呢。我问了医院，说这个不是所谓的medicare（
不是联邦的）,好像是州的。我也不清楚这个会对我有什么影响。我本人现在已经工作
了。

办手续的秘书的回答太让我疑惑了。
一开始，我要求Research Associate，她说这是相当于Technician的，而Assistant
Scientist以后可以升成Associate Scientist，再上去就是Faculty 。但是昨天我看到
打出的广告变成了“Research Associate”就去找她。结果她又说Research Associate
是比Assistant Scientist高而比Associate Scientist低，介于两者间的 Title。
因为第一开始说的是Permanent 的职位，但当时说的是Assistant Scientist，现在说
的是Research Associate， 我要去确认一下，现在这个还是不是Permanent的了。
另外，Research Associate中文翻译成什么比较合适（考虑到回国找位置）? |

"Have you ever received public assistance from any source, including the us
Government or any state, county, city or municipality (other than emergency
medical treatment) or are you likely to receive public assistance in future"
? Yes or No?
我们当时生宝宝的时候还是低收入的学生身份，用了州政府的medicaid还有WIC，做了
一些research,有人说应该选择 No, 因为这两个不算是public assistance， 可是还有
很多人说应该选择yes，然后再用单独的statement页来说明，不然如果选择no的话被查
出来会导致麻烦，属于lying。可是就我来看这个问题是两部分的，一个是曾经是否用
过，一个是以后是否有可能，如果回答yes给第一部分，并不表示第二部分也是yes。所
