应差不多这样：
lecturer - AP（但是lecturer在英国一般可以认为是tenured）
senior lecturer - Assoc P （英国有些大学没有这个，比如牛津大学，据说有人回国
把自己忽悠成牛津的高级讲师，呵呵）
Reader - 差不多Junior full professor (或在waiting list of professor，即，学
术上等具有professor的资格，但是还得等vacancy。)
Professor - full professor
Chair professor - professor中的professor，超牛。 |

后来香港变为
Lecturer = Assistant Prof
Senior lecturer = Associate Prof
Reader = Prof
Prof = Chair Prof
新加坡比较保守
Lecturer = Assistant Prof
Senior lecturer level 1 = Assistant Prof
Senior lecturer level 2 = Associate Prof
Associate Prof level 1 (a few) = Associate Prof
Associate Prof level 2 = Prof
Prof = Prof

退休时，要吗是lecturer（senior lecturer）或professor。
几乎不会以reader结束的，除非退休前死掉或辞职。

发帖数: 633 | 9 lecturer 可以是tenured， 这是两股不同的车。很多Snr Lecturer有甜妞了，也有很
多到退休都是Snr Lecturer，不过一般应该能上二级。
Reader和Associate Prof只是叫法不一样，是一回事，比较难升到。
Full Prof基本上没戏。一个萝卜一个坑，前面的没走（死！）后面的绝对没戏。
不过现在英澳等都有贬值的倾向，能当（Associate）Prof的人多了。

senior lecturer貌似是teaching track,一般不算副教授。
Reader基本上一副教授，但沒tenure制，是啥怪物難說。一般不會被辭退。
簡單說，
teachers: lecturer->senior lecturer -(doesn't always happen)-> prof.
researchers: lecturer->reader-(happens more often than above)->prof.
還是蘇修系統好，teacher就是teacher,專門教大學，如MIPT。教學質量高。
研究就是研究，研究質量好，如ITEP, Landau, Lebedev, Steklov,......
