很多北美的华人对枪支的了解都是负面的，也都无条件地支持禁枪、控枪。一方面中国
是连气枪都禁，连菜刀在敏感时期的大城市都实名的国家[36]，另一方面近年来美国的
很多媒体不停地宣扬枪的罪恶，所以出现这种情况是正常的。我来北美很多年以来也一
直持有同样的观点。直到一年以前，我儿子说如果有坏人闯到我家里，我们无法保护家
人的安全，我才开始考虑和研究枪的问题。在这里我把我了解的关于北美的普通老百姓
是应该拥枪还是禁枪的一些基本问题和解释列在下面，希望每一个华人读了之后能够认
识到应该怎样全面、客观地看待枪的问题，以及应该如何保护自己和家人的安全。
“拥枪”有两重意思，一是拥护允许守法公民持枪的法律，二是自己拥有枪。本文提倡
两者都要。做不到自己拥有枪的至少应该拥护其他守法公民持枪。
本文用“草民”来指所有居住在北美的普通公民和非公民，用以和出门有持枪保镖，回
家有持枪守卫的亿万富翁及政客区分开来。
