l****z 发帖数: 29846 | 1 Survey: Managing Partners Losing Confidence in the Economy
The people who head up law firms are, understandably, a little anxious about
the economy, according to a survey out this week from Citi Private Bank.
As the European debt crisis continues to cast a pall over the global economy
, the overall confidence level of managing partners at 79 law firms fell
slightly during the second quarter of 2012, according to Citi. The bank,
which is among the largest law firm lenders, polled managing partner... 阅读全帖 |

Did George Washington Turn Down An Offer To Be A King?
The Story Behind the Myth
Grover Furr
Montclair State University
March 2007
Did anyone ever offer to make George Washington "king"?
The answer is: No. There is no evidence that this ever happened. But the
story, in various forms, has been around for a long time.
What is the origin of this story?
The best account of the origins and development of this myth is by Robert F.

Interviewed with them last summer. The two junior associates whom I met both
looked like sh*t. And I can tell they didn't like their job. Most likely
they didn't have chances to work on the mega cases, but were stuck in doc

L***d 发帖数: 154 | 14 Yeah. It was just a guess. I didn't look at the table. Actually I used
not to pay much attention to those top firms, because they generally suck at
IP. Among the top-ranked GP firms, Jones Day has one of the best IP
practices.
PPP can be deceiving though. Only equity partners are included in the
calculation. Many firms keep adding income partners as a compromise between
retaining people they like and maintaining their high PPP to stay on top of
the AmLaw 100 list. |

You mentioned in the other thread that PPP could be deceiving as a proxy for
partner income because of the 2-tier partnership system. It is an
absolutely valid point. You might find the data on this page illuminating: http://www.law.com/special/professionals/nylj/2003/par |

1) One L, a book by Scott Turow, gives you a basic idea of the life of a
first-year law student.
2) Vault 100 & AMLaw 100/200 lists, to get familiar with the names of the
law firms, if Big Law is your career goal.
3) "Getting to Maybe", or "law School Confidential", gives you some ideas of
the game played by law professors in class or in exam.
With respect to BarBri or PMBR, I don't recommend since first, you won't
understand much; second, memorization is not the key to get good gr |
