the kid has to do is show one example of "opening up" during the past year
and that would be enough for the teacher to make comments like that.

Application 网站申请大学。
但也有一些学校采用自己的申请表格,比如加州州立大学系统。名气大的还有MIT 和
GeorgeTown等等。
使用通用申请表, 大学需要基本信息只要填一次可以送到不同的大学,为学生省了大量
的工作量。很多采用通用申请表的大学,除了要求通用申请表的信息之外,还要一些附
加信息,也就是常说的Supplement。通用申请网站过去几年都是在8月1日左右开放下一
年度的申请。
通用申请表要求学生写篇Personal Essay(短文),有时也被称为Personal Statement。
短文要求在250到650字之间(这要求常有变动)。一般在500字比较适中。短文可以在
